New York CNN —The judge overseeing Donald Trump’s criminal hush money trial has adjourned his sentencing, which was set for next week. Judge Juan Merchan also agreed to hold off on issuing his decision on presidential immunity until after he reviews the parties’ filings. The judge did not set a new sentencing date or make any further statements about the delay. Trump’s lawyers have argued his conviction should be tossed both because of the presidential immunity decision and his return to the White House. His sentencing, originally scheduled for July, was delayed twice after the Supreme Court’s immunity decision prompted Trump’s lawyers to file a motion to vacate the conviction.

The 46-year-old country star had gone to his Maydelle, Texas, ranch on Thursday by himself. “I was sure that I was going to die. “This is how I’m gonna die. Country singer Sundance Head, who won Season 11 of 'The Voice,' was injured by a stray bullet at his ranch in Texas on Friday, his agent said. Head, 46, was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Tyler, where he was recovering after being stabilized, agent Trey Newman said in a statement. Newman said the round that injured Head likely came from a nearby hunter's errant gunfire. Though Head's father, Roy Head, was a noted musician, the singer didn't start to make inroads in music until he was 33. "The Voice" and NBC News are entities of NBCUniversal Media, LLC.

A spokesperson for the city government of Monterey, California, said its police department had investigated “an alleged sexual assault” involving Hegseth, a Fox News host and Army National Guard veteran. The statement said that there were no weapons involved, but there were injuries — “contusions to right thigh” — without providing additional details. CNN —President-elect Donald Trump will meet with President Joe Biden in the Oval Office on Wednesday, the White House announced Saturday. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement that the two would meet at 11 a.m. at Biden’s invitation, adding that additional details about the meeting will be released. Incoming first lady Melania Trump has also been invited to the White House to meet with first lady Jill Biden, an official in the East Wing told CNN, though it is unclear when that might happen. Trump did not host Biden in 2020, however, as he fought the election results based on falsehoods about voter fraud. A zero percent inflation target might be popular, but it would represent a sharp departure – one that mainstream economists warn would backfire. “Stable inflation is an oxymoron because it means it’s not stable,” Shelton told CNN in a recent interview. In fact, one reason the Fed set its inflation target at 2% is because it’s safely away from that deflation-danger zone. A zero inflation target would mean a path right on the edge. But even some of Shelton’s biggest fans are opposed to her embrace of a zero-inflation target.

Trump has previously told CNN he would consider appointing Kennedy to a role in a potential second administration. Subway sandwiches are short on meat, lawsuit claims

NEW YORK — A new lawsuit accuses Subway of “grossly misleading” customers by advertising sandwiches that contain at least three times more meat than it delivers. According to a proposed class action filed Monday in federal court in Brooklyn, Subway ads for its Steak & Cheese sandwich show layers of meat piled high, reaching about as high as the surrounding hero bread. In reality, according to several photos in the complaint, the fast-food chain’s sandwiches are far more bread than filling. Her lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for New Yorkers who bought the sandwiches in the last three years, for Subway’s alleged violations of the state’s consumer protection laws. Subway previously defended for more than four years against a lawsuit claiming its “footlong” sandwiches were too short.

CNN —Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former Republican governor of California, said Wednesday he will be voting for Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. That’s why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz,” Schwarzenegger said in a post on X. Following the January 6, 2021, insurrection, Schwarzenegger said Trump would be remembered as the worst president in US history and urged unity among Americans. The feud between the two stretches back to Trump’s first term, after Schwarzenegger took over the former president’s prized show, “The Celebrity Apprentice,” in 2015. Trump mocked the show, titled “The New Celebrity Apprentice,” for low ratings in 2017, and Schwarzenegger responded: “Hey Donald, I have a great idea.

Presidential campaigns often use the backdrop of small businesses — record stores, diners, machine shops — to emphasize their candidates’ authenticity and hometown values. In speeches and ads, Vice President Kamala Harris has sought to infuse entrepreneurship into her brand — an avowed capitalist, but for the little guy. Her economic policy platform mentions “small business” 77 times, including a section aimed at addressing owners’ needs, such as easing licensing requirements and funneling more federal contracts their way. Ms. Harris’s focus on small business isn’t completely new. She also took on the issue as vice president, visiting businesses to hand out billions of dollars in loans funded by the American Rescue Plan Act.

During a special election in Wisconsin over the summer, a group of partisan poll watchers showed up at a handful of precincts in Glendale, a suburb of Milwaukee, and created chaos by contesting every absentee ballot that was cast. After they were reminded repeatedly about the rules against making meritless ballot challenges, the groups of poll watchers “turned disruptive,” according to Glendale Mayor Bryan Kennedy. They didn’t, and the police were called,” Kennedy told CNN, adding that once police arrived, the observers left peacefully. Some context: Poll watchers are a key component of election transparency, and both Democrats and Republicans have built out their ranks of volunteers and lawyers to observe polling places and vote counting centers. WASHINGTON — Among the many permutations for how the elections could end, one prospect has sparked chatter in both parties: Donald Trump could win the presidency while Democrats seize control of the House. Such a split would be rare — not since 1989 has a president entered office without his party controlling the House — and give Democrats substantial power over Trump's legislative agenda. In addition, persisting signs of ticket-splitting indicate Trump voters won’t all pull the lever for his party’s candidates down the ballot. The operative added that if Trump overperforms in rural areas, it could spell danger for a few Democratic-held House seats, such as Alaska's at-large district and Maine's 2nd District. “It’s why the American people will send President Trump a Republican House to secure the border, bring down inflation, and support law enforcement.”Asked about the prospect of a Trump presidency and a Democratic-controlled House, the Democrats' House campaign arm sounded an optimistic note that its party will win both.

CNN —NASA Administrator Bill Nelson on Friday called for an investigation into a Wall Street Journal report that SpaceX founder and Donald Trump ally Elon Musk and Russian President Vladimir Putin have been in “regular contact” since late 2022. Musk also held his own town halls last week in Pennsylvania, where he urged voters to support Trump and promoted several debunked conspiracy theories about the 2020 election. The two have publicly discussed a potential government role for Musk. In recent days, Musk also offered splashy, $1 million daily sweepstakes for swing-state voters that has drawn scrutiny from the US Justice Department. Despite a warning from the Justice Department that the payments might be illegal, Musk’s super PAC awarded two $1 million prizes to registered voters in Michigan and Wisconsin on Thursday.

Thirty-two voters who were still undecided sought answers from Harris on the country’s polarized political tumult, on punishing prices at the grocery store and on an immigration crisis the Biden administration struggled to address. Harris was asked to explain her policy reversals on fracking and her plans to hike taxes on the rich. CNN —Elon Musk’s super PAC didn’t announce a winner for its “daily” $1 million giveaway to registered swing state voters on Wednesday, the same day news broke that the Justice Department warned Musk’s group that its sweepstakes might be illegal. The super PAC has announced its winners each day to fanfare, with flashy videos posted to social media and celebratory tweets from Musk. It’s unclear if the Justice Department letter is why the super PAC didn’t publicly name a winner on Wednesday. CNN has reached out to the super PAC seeking comment. However, several election law experts who spoke to CNN pointed out that the fine print on Musk’s super PAC website explaining the official terms of entry did not change.
