CNN —Google’s newest artificial intelligence tool, “Whisk,” lets people upload photos to get back a combined, AI-generated image – even without users inputting any text to explain what they want. Google’s Whisk is an image-to-image generator, building upon the popular concept of text-to-image generators. Users can add in text if they want to direct certain details, but it is not required to create an image. Google’s Whisk is built upon the generative AI developed by DeepMind, the AI lab that Google acquired in 2014. For example, the generated image might have a different height, hairstyle or skin tone as the prompt images, Google said in a blog post.

CNN —The US government has imposed fresh export controls on the sale of high tech memory chips used in artificial intelligence (AI) applications to China. The rules apply to US-made high bandwidth memory (HBM) technology as well as foreign-produced ones. High bandwidth memory (HBM) are basically a stack of memory chips, small components that store data. Experts say the latest export restrictions will slow China’s development of AI chips and, at most stall, its access to HBM. Because AI applications require a lot of complex computing, such traits ensure that these applications run smoothly, without delays or glitches.

Victory, but no mandateMr. Yoon, a conservative leader, has never been popular in South Korea. The vote, analysts said, was more a referendum on his liberal predecessor’s failures than an endorsement of Mr. Yoon. “Peace is meaningless unless it is backed by power,” Mr. Yoon said during the campaign. An election fueled by vitriolMr. Yoon’s party had seen the 2024 elections as an opportunity to win back the chamber. “I call on the National Assembly,” he said, “to immediately stop the outrageous behavior that is paralyzing the functioning of the country with impeachments, legislative manipulation and budget manipulation.”Image Police officers by the National Assembly.
