Elizabeth Illing moved into a tiny home believing it was a long-term solution to Austin's high rents. Illing said her rent and utility bills went up during the two years she's lived in the tiny home. I thought moving into the Casata tiny home community was a good idea for my family due to the affordability. I'm paying $600 to $700 more each month than I was before moving into the community. AdvertisementFor others considering moving into a tiny home, I would advise paying attention to your lease and definitely knocking on doors to talk to current residents.

A video appears to show Taliban security forces patrolling Kabul on rollerblades. The Taliban took complete control of Afghanistan in 2021 following the withdrawal of US troops. A video posted on YouTube shows what appears to be several uniformed Taliban members carrying AK-47s and "skitching," holding on to a truck while being pulled along. The slick video appears to have been made for propaganda purposes and is a departure from the types of content previously posted by the YouTuber. HANGZHOU, China Sept 27 (Reuters) - Cui Chenxi became China's youngest Asian Games gold medallist on Wednesday after the 13-year-old skateboarder won the women's street event on day four of competition in Hangzhou. With an eye-catching performance featuring several 'Ollies' and a huge move off a high rail, which several of her competitors avoided, Cui took gold ahead of compatriot Zeng Wenhui, 18, with Japanese 16-year-old Miyu Ito taking bronze. Cui, who hails from China's eastern Shandong province, only took up skateboarding in 2020 when China's COVID restrictions meant she could not practice rollerblading, which she began as a three-year-old. Each athlete's highest scoring run and two highest scoring tricks were then added together to reach a final score. Margielyn Didal, who won gold for the Philippines at the 2018 Asian Games, is still only 24 yet she seemed like a veteran with all her competitors in the final 18 or under.

To escape high rents, he moved into an ambulance he bought off of Facebook Marketplace for $9,000. Smith spent $8,000 converting the ambulance into a mobile home and vlogs about traveling in it. Living in an ambulance has been very affordable because I don't have to pay rent and have limited expenses. From what I've seen and heard, I think a lot more young people are interested in different lifestyles. I think I'm really lucky to be in the position where I can be an inspiration to others.

Barbie is a famous clotheshorse, and Gerwig’s movie more than delivers on the fashion front: Whether Robbie’s doll is wearing gingham dresses or disco jumpsuits, she takes costumes that could read as cosplay and makes them chic. Still, even though Murphy is striking in period garments, there can be only one victor in this category. We have no doubt that Barbie would look fashionable even in Oppenheimer’s tailored menswear, but could the theoretical physicist pull off her rollerblading look in eye-searing fluorescents? (Kinky, yes, but Tatlock clearly knows that the way to this man’s heart is to first admire his bookshelf.) Advantage: “Oppenheimer”

Warner Bros.Self-deprecationAccording to Bloomberg, Mattel gave Warner Bros. and Gerwig huge creative license on the movie – including how Mattel and its bigwigs would be portrayed. Kreiz, with his chiseled jaw, pearly white teeth and broader good looks, might look more like Ken, played by Ryan Gosling, than the ghoulish CEO played by funnyman Will Ferrell. Ferrell is listed only as "Mattel CEO" in the film's credits, adding an element of ambiguity.

At More Skate Parks, an ‘Aggressive’ Takeover

On a May afternoon at a Venice Beach skate park, the drooping sun cast an amber glow on Kayla Dizon as she shot her way across the pavement on a pair of in-line skates. Ms. Dizon, 25, had not come to cruise leisurely along the Pacific Coast like many spandex- and swimsuit-clad skaters do. Wearing a T-shirt and cutoff shorts that revealed a massive purple-yellow bruise on her leg, Ms. Dizon instead was scraping her skates’ wheels on the edges of the park’s sinuous curves and sharp dips as her dyed-red hair thrashed in the air. Like many people, Ms. Dizon took up in-line skating — often called Rollerblading, thanks to a popular brand of skates — during the pandemic, after a friend gave her a pair of skates. It was that same friend, she said, who coaxed her into trying what’s known as aggressive or in-line street skating, a style heavy on tricks and stunts like grinding curbs, skidding on railings and spinning along half-pipes.
