A family’s set of dishes has passed through five generations of women, but will the teacups, plates and bowls make it to a sixth? The bowl, specifically used to serve berries, is part of a set of fine china that has been in her family for over a century. For over a century, this set of fine china has been handed down from woman to woman in the same family. Of all the pieces that were eventually broken in the china set, the teacup has the most delicate seal. A correction was made on Jan. 1, 2025: An earlier version of this article incorrectly named the first woman to own the china set as Gertrude.

And the availability of the VIPER spacecraft piqued the company’s interest for future projects, Intuitive Machines told CNN. To get reach that goal, Intuitive Machines will likely have to dip into its own funds to complete VIPER’s finishing touches before liftoff. The Simulated Lunar Operations Lab at NASA Glenn Research Center tested planetary roving vehicle systems and components for vehicles such as the VIPER Rover. The Astrobotic Griffin lunar lander (pictured here in a rendering) is now slated to take off no earlier than late 2025. The lunar lander was designed to carry NASA’s VIPER rover as its main payload.

CNN —The fortuitous timing of having a series produced by and featuring newly minted Oscar-winner Robert Downey Jr. tumbles down a very strange rabbit hole in “The Sympathizer,” a darkly satirical look at the Vietnam War and its aftermath. Each episode begins with dated-looking credits that evoke the 1970s, a promising Quentin Tarantino-ish conceit that, given what follows, sets expectations too high. As constructed, it’s a rather heavy-handed approximation of the fate Vietnam experienced in the pull of the war, which doesn’t make the Captain’s increasingly surreal arc any more compelling. Strangelove,” assuming that was the intent, than a means of maximizing the star’s presence without really heightening its impact. “The Sympathizer” is hardly the first project to funnel the contradictions of the Vietnam War through an exaggerated lens (“Apocalypse Now” being a prime example), but except for a few bracing sequences the execution only clouds that vision.

NEW YORK (AP) — Comedian Jon Stewart is rewinding the clock, returning to “The Daily Show” as a weekly host and executive producing through the 2024 U.S. elections cycle. Comedy Central on Wednesday said Stewart will host the topical TV show, the perch he ruled for 16 years starting in 1999, every Monday starting Feb. 12. Two former correspondents in particular got massive boosts — Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert. '”The show's abrupt end was reportedly triggered due to clashes between Stewart and Apple over its coverage of stories around China and artificial intelligence. A spokesperson did not immediately respond to questions about who will host “The Daily Show” after the November election.

In a spacious Houston cafeteria awash in primary colors, diners crowded around big tables and dug into mashed potatoes splashed with a slick gravy, glossy green beans and sticky slabs of pecan pie. The calendar said Oct. 12. But this was Luby’s, where every day is Thanksgiving. “I am a Texan,” said Wunzel Lewis, 71, a regular at Luby’s, which serves Thanksgiving fare year-round as part of its sprawling menu. For the devoted following of this Texas chain, that’s exactly its appeal.

In the interview, taped Thursday at Trump's golf club in New Jersey, Trump refused to say who he called as the violence unfolded. Trump is facing federal criminal charges for his efforts to overturn his loss in that election but he is not facing charges related to the insurrection. Trump said Tarrio was treated “horribly," according to a full transcript of the NBC interview, which included parts that were not aired. The NBC appearance was Trump's first broadcast network interview since leaving office and marked Welker's debut show as host. The U.S. Supreme Court, with the support of three justices appointed by Trump, last year overturned the federal right to an abortion.

If so, VF Corp. 's profit warning could be a sign of things to come. It reiterated its revenue forecast but slashed earnings outlook, citing expectations of a more promotional environment. On Monday, VF said there's a "more elevated than expected promotional environment" as it lowered its EPS guidance once again and said its CEO is stepping down . What's more, the latest revision isn't just about the promotional environment, and that's why it may be something for investors to watch. And "to a lesser degree," there is less demand in Europe and there are Covid-19 disruptions in China, it said.
