“We’re going to be asking everyone who sells drugs, gets caught, to receive the death penalty for their heinous acts,” he added. Haley alleged that Weinstein had pinned her down and forced her into a sex act in 2006 at his Manhattan apartment. Homelessness is highest in cities with exorbitant rents, but small cities and rural communities are not shielded from the housing crisis. Because rural America lacks many social services, like free clinics, soup kitchens and shelters, the rural homeless often make their way to places like the Water Street Mission. We spoke with several people staying at the Water Street Mission, some of whom were there for the first time and some who had sought refuge there many times before. Levon Higgins, 50, has been staying at Water Street for the last six months : I just couldn’t afford to live where I was. Jennifer Berrie, 45, was staying in an overnight-only shelter before Water Street : I miss little things you don't even think of.

CNN —The genesis of photographer Joy Gregory’s latest project, “Shining Lights,” began 40 years ago, at a Valentine’s Day party in London. After the party and as they became friends, Mercer suggested the pair collaborate on a book about women’s photography. Courtesy the artist/MACKThe idea then, for a book surveying the work of Black women’s photography in Britain in the 1980s and 1990s, lay dormant for several decades. The result is “Shining Lights: Black Women Photographers in 1980s–90s Britain,” a new photography book edited by Gregory and co-published by Autograph and Mack. “I think as women, it wasn’t open, and I think being of color, it definitely wasn’t open.”In the book, Black “refers to the whole gamut of color, which was really about difference,” says Gregory.

COOKE CITY, Mont. They say their work has helped keep deaths from spiking despite more skiers, snowboarders and snowmobilers pushing the limits on remote mountainsides. Cooke City is thronged with tourists by the thousands in summer, when it’s a bustling gateway to Yellowstone National Park. After it snows — and here storms are often measured by the foot — snowmobilers and skiers pack the few hotels and inns. On Saturdays at a backcountry warming hut used by snowmobilers, avalanche educators give basic rescue lessons including how to use avalanche beacons — transmitters that send a signal rescuers can use to find victims.

Rescuers drilled through rocks and debris to finally reach the men on Tuesday in the Himalayan tunnel where they have been trapped since it collapsed on Nov. 12. Ambulances were waiting at the mouth of the tunnel on Tuesday afternoon to take the men to hospital and R.C.S. "All 41 would experience some post traumatic symptoms like insomnia, recurrent bad dreams, recurrent reliving of the tunnel collapse, anxiety," he said.
