Ron, a 76-year-old based in California, always leaves his ride-hailing driver a 20% tip unless they are a "complete jerk," he told BI. AdvertisementShould Uber and Lyft drivers always get tips? Rob Schlegel, a journalist turned real-estate agent in Las Vegas, tries to always tip his Uber or Lyft driver the highest suggested amount for each ride. The reasons people do or don't tip their Uber and Lyft drivers can be complicated. According to Gridwise data, roughly 30% of US Uber drivers drove at least 25 hours a week in the first quarter of 2024.

While I dread these altercations, I think some passengers need to chill out — people have the right to recline their seat. So, you’d think that 150 lighter seats per flight will certainly save an airline a ton of money. A lighter seat that doesn’t recline is also a seat that is less likely to break, which saves an airline money in repairs. But after 28 years in the job, I’ve found there’s some basic reclining etiquette that makes for a smoother flight for everyone. But on coach, middle seat passengers struggle to type because there’s no arm space.

And Cinépolis, a theater chain that offers a "luxury movie-going" experience, recently caught my eye. It was available at my local AMC, but Cinépolis has about half the screens, so it can't show every movie in theaters. I bought my ticket on the Cinépolis site on Friday afternoon for a showing that night. At my local AMC, I can control the recline of the footrest and chair back separately, which makes for a more comfortable experience. When broken down, each movie ticket is about $2.

Read previewI recently visited the Fairmont Century Plaza's 14,000-square-foot spa and well-being center in Los Angeles to experience a 30-minute "power nap" biohacking treatment. Put simply, biohacking is using methods from scientific fields like biology and neurology to enhance one's health and well-being. This power nap would involve making a series of incremental changes to my body that, according to the spa's site, could either help me feel more relaxed or more energized. I paid $150 for my 30-minute "power nap" session, which is also offered in increments of 60 and 90 minutes for an additional cost. ATLANTA (AP) — Since Jimmy Carter entered hospice care at his home in south Georgia one year ago, the former U.S. president has celebrated his 99th birthday, enjoyed tributes to his legacy and lost his wife of 77 years. Those advocates commend the Carter family for demonstrating the realities of aging, dementia and death. Almost half of Medicare patients who died that year did so under hospice care. JIMMY CARTER’S ENDURANCE IS NOT UNUSUALIn 2021, the average stay of hospice patients who died was 92 days, MedPAC calculated. About 10% of enrollees who die in hospice care stayed more than 264 days.

When ‘Giants’ Roam the Museum Halls

What you think of it really depends on what you’re asking for. If you view the painting as a Venti-size iteration of Wiley’s ongoing project, his decades-long attack on the paucity of Black faces in Western museums and art history, it’s one-note but hard to argue with. Brightly colored and thoughtfully composed, it’s visually appealing, and even today, when it’s no longer so uncommon to see Black figures on museum walls, catching sight of one this big still elicits a thrill. On the other hand, considered strictly as a painting, “Femme Piquée par un Serpent” (“Woman Bitten by a Serpent”) doesn’t offer that much. It’s simply the adept illustration of an idea.

On overnight trains, splurging for a private space is worth the price. In private cabins, travelers get a bed, a sink, a vanity, and sometimes a full bathroom. AdvertisementIf you want to sleep on an overnight train, book a private cabin. But when I've booked private cabins on Amtrak and Nightjet, ranging from $200 to $1,000, I've slept better with no disruptions. So I recommend private cabins to all travelers with rolling luggage, a nighttime routine, or a desire to sleep well.

During that exchange, Singh said he learned from Wang that Alameda was borrowing $13 billion from FTX. Singh asked about the size of the shortfall, and Bankman-Fried said that was the wrong question to be asking. After Singh asked if he would finally agree to curb spending, Bankman-Fried said, "Yes, definitely." There, Singh told the jury, he thought he might quit but instead asked Bankman-Fried for a real sense of how things went on the overseas trip. Singh told the jury that he faces a max of 75 years in prison but is "hoping for no jail time."

Best memory foam pillow for side sleepersSaatva Graphite Memory Foam Pillow $165 at Saatva This responsive and well-cushioned pillow is also cooling, thanks to its graphite-infused memory foam. (It’s technically made with shredded memory foam around a latex core.) More than other memory foam pillows we tested, the Saatva takes the shape of your head and neck—as in, you can see your form in the pillow. Another plus: It feels cool to the touch, which we found isn’t always the case with memory foam pillows we’ve tried. The company uses both graphite and gel in its memory foam to carry heat away from your body.
But if there's anybody who can settle the age-old debate, it's flight attendants. Five out of six flight attendants interviewed by Insider all agree: you have the right to recline. "It's definitely not rude to recline your seat," flight attendant Andrew Kothlow of the blog "Two Guys on a Plane" told Insider. "In first class reclining your seat isn't so rude because there's space to recline, but reclining in the main cabin of the plane is," the flight attendant told Insider. Jeffrey Greenberg/Universal Images Group via Getty ImagesBut the passenger etiquette the flight attendants demonstrated more concern toward was their boldly bare-footed customers — and for good reason.
The families prayed for a miracle, knowing their loved ones were trapped in their cars for days as an unprecedented blizzard paralyzed Buffalo, New York, with freezing temperatures and blinding snow. On Christmas, Syta’s friends, who loved Jóźwiak and called her "Mama," set out to bring her home. Taylor called the police, but she had no choice but to wait inside her car, which she kept running for warmth, said her mother, Wanda Brown Steele. Taylor familyTwo days later, on Christmas night, a family friend found Taylor's car, which was still running, and broke through a window. In the snowed-in Buffalo home that Taylor called home, there is nothing much to do but mourn her.

Using credit-card points and frequent-flyer miles can be confusing. While frequent-flyer miles are less flexible than certain credit-card points, there are still great options to use them. Because of the way frequent-flyer programs work, you can usually get a lot more value from a lot fewer frequent-flyer miles than you can with credit-card points. Booking travel through your credit card using pointsOne of the easiest ways to use your bank-based credit-card points is to book travel through your credit-card company's travel portal. Bottom lineIn general, the most lucrative way to use transferable credit-card points is to convert them to frequent-flyer miles and use them to book flights.
