China’s domination of electric cars, which is threatening to start a trade war, was born decades ago in university laboratories in Texas, when researchers discovered how to make batteries with minerals that were abundant and cheap. Companies from China have recently built on those early discoveries, figuring out how to make the batteries hold a powerful charge and endure more than a decade of daily recharges. They are inexpensively and reliably manufacturing vast numbers of these batteries, producing most of the world’s electric cars and many other clean energy systems. Batteries are just one example of how China is catching up with — or passing — advanced industrial democracies in its technological and manufacturing sophistication. It is achieving many breakthroughs in a long list of sectors, from pharmaceuticals to drones to high-efficiency solar panels.

A combination of wedding deposits, inflation, and my laissez-faire spending habits meant I was unexpectedly dipping into my savings. To learn how, I spoke to Amanda Clayman, a financial therapist who hosts Fresh Produce Media's Audible series "Emotional Investment." I wrote down a few ideas on how I could assess my spending habits, which Clayman approved of. It ended up reassuring me about my spending habits and helping me find small, new ways to save. I've wanted to get into a craft like pottery, where I could even make more personal gifts.

UK Defense Ministry“It has the potential to be a long-term low-cost alternative to certain tasks missiles currently carry out,” a January statement from the UK Defense Ministry said. Meanwhile expensive air defense systems from Western allies have been crucial to Ukraine’s ability to defend itself from attacks by Russian missiles and drones.

Early tech adopters are investing in a new toy: solar-powered electric yachts. "I believe electric yachts and electric motors will be the main propulsion of pleasure yachts and even cargo vessels in the near future." The company says it has an order book of 160 million euros ($168 million), with prices ranging from 3.2 million euros for its 60-foot yacht to 30 million euros for the fully equipped version of its 120-foot vessel. "The smallest boat is around 1.5 million euros and on the upper range there really is no limit. "We think there is a sweet spot for solar electric boats between 50 and 120 feet," said Kress.

And the truth is that the benefits of a good vacation can be felt even before the trip begins. The “other stress” – the one that has negative connotations for everyone – is chronic stress. Alexander Spatari/Moment RF/Getty ImagesThe main thing that a good vacation can do for our mental health is precisely to reduce chronic stress levels. Therefore, knowing that our vacation is coming increases the dopamine levels in our brain and gives us that feeling of pleasure. Be that as it may, good vacations are good for us.

The directive to present the optimistic range estimates came from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, this person said. The lawsuit's three plaintiffs cite occasions when their Teslas didn't achieve close to their advertised ranges and said they had complained to the company without success. The lawsuit states: "Had Tesla honestly advertised its electric vehicle ranges, consumers either would not have purchased Tesla model vehicles, or else would have paid substantially less for them." The complaint seeks class-action status to represent "all persons in California who purchased a new Tesla Model 3, Model S, Model Y, and Model X vehicle." A California Tesla owner also filed a proposed consumer class action in April after Reuters reported that Tesla employees had shared on an internal messaging system sensitive images and videos captured by cars' cameras.

On the contrary, the extreme weather conditions across southern Europe this summer are a wake-up call — a reminder that not even our vacations are insulated from the growing consequences of global heating. Even northern Europe would see a tripling of extreme heat events, which could be expected once every five years. Climate breakdown is set to become all-pervasive and affect every aspect of our lives and livelihoods, and already extreme weather can happen pretty much anywhere. This can’t go on, nor should it, both for the peace of mind of holiday-makers increasingly worried about growing extreme weather, and for the good of the planet. Holidays abroad need to be decoupled from flying, which means – as far as Europe is concerned – train, car or coach.

The reason is that we're moving all that water mass from under the continents to the oceans. How groundwater depletion affects Earth's rotational poleThe Earth's rotational pole normally changes and wanders by about several meters each year. To put it simply, groundwater depletion contributes to sea level rise because water is being transferred from the continents to the oceans. The recent study found that groundwater depletion caused a 6.24-millimeter rise in global sea level from 1993 to 2010. This is significant because each millimeter rise in sea level is said to make the shoreline retreat an average of 1.5 meters.

REUTERS/Pascal Rossignol/File PhotoCompanies Tesla Inc FollowBOSTON, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) investor Ross Gerber said on Friday he will end his run for the electric carmaker's board of directors, citing changes investors can expect to see next week. Tesla also will create more Twitter and promotional content, which could move the brand away from its close identification with Musk. Gerber, a Los Angeles investment manager, is a longtime Tesla bull who initially cast his run as that of a "friendly activist." While his wealth-management firm had only about 440,000 shares of Tesla he has received backing from larger shareholders online.
MEXICO CITY, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Grupo Televisa , Mexico's largest broadcaster, reported on Thursday a net loss in the fourth quarter of 13.75 billion pesos ($705 million), hurt by losses related to TelevisaUnivison and declines in its satellite TV unit. The result compares with a net profit of 3.7 billion pesos in the year-earlier period, according to a statement filed with the Mexican stock exchange. The company's revenue increased 1.6% from the year-earlier period to 19.13 billion pesos, slightly missing the Refinitiv forecast of 19.28 billion pesos. Mexico's Megacable in December rejected an offer by Televisa to merge the companies' pay TV and broadband operations.
Shamrock Capital Advisors, a Los Angeles-based investment firm that grew out of the family office of the late Roy Disney, a longtime Walt Disney Co. executive, has raised more than $600 million to spend on entertainment content and media rights. Shamrock’s content strategy, which includes a debt fund, is to invest in film, television, music, sports and videogame products and distribution rights.
We've all heard it before: Having a morning routine is essential to a successful life. There are science-backed benefits of having a morning routine: past research has shown that a consistent morning routine can reduce stress, boost your energy levels and improve your productivity at work.
