The result compares with a net loss of 40.3 billion euros in the same period last year, when ballooning costs to replace Russian gas threw the company into its biggest crisis ever, triggering a government rescue. The results come a week after Uniper detailed its outlook for 2023, expecting adjusted operating profit (EBIT) of 6 billion to 7 billion euros and full-year adjusted net profit of 4 billion to 5 billion euros. At the end of September, liabilities tied to derivatives, which grow or shrink in line with gas price developments, stood at 26 billion euros, down from 216 billion a year earlier.

US says ready to help Vietnam with rare earth auctions

HANOI, Oct 25 (Reuters) - The United States is ready to help Vietnam in preparing auctions for rare earths mines, the U.S. State Department chief economist Emily Blanchard on Wednesday. "If Vietnam chooses to ask for assistance in developing an auction, we would be happy to provide assistance to do so," she said in Hanoi when asked about possible auctions to be arranged by Vietnam for new concessions at unexploited mines. Vietnam's government intends to launch tenders for multiple blocks of its Dong Pao mine before the year's end, Tessa Kutscher, an executive at Australia's Blackstone Minerals Ltd (BSX.AX), which plans to bid for at least one concession, told Reuters last month. Blanchard said that U.S. technical assistance to partner countries can extend to support to craft tenders or bids "to generate the most interest". The ban on all types of gasoline and high-quality diesel remains in place. Russia in recent months has suffered shortages of gasoline and diesel. Wholesale fuel prices have spiked, although retail prices are capped to try to curb them in line with official inflation. Russia gas price seen much lower for China than for Europe

Companies Gazprom PAO FollowMOSCOW, Sept 8 (Reuters) - The price for the Russian pipeline gas for China is expected to be steadily declining in next few years, and is seen much lower than Moscow is selling to Europe, a Russian government document, seen by Reuters on Friday, shows. Oil exports from Russia are also seen declining next year, according to the forecast of Russia's socio-economic development forecast until 2026, while the price of Russian oil is seen rising in 2024. The price of Russian pipeline gas has not been made public by the government or the energy giant Gazprom (GAZP.MM) since the start of supplies in 2019, while analysts have long suspected that it was much lower than the one Russia sells at to Europe. Russian crude oil exports are also seen declining this year to 247 million tons (4.96 million barrels per day) from 248.2 million tons in 2022. It is expected to fall further to 240 million tons next year before recovering back to 247 million tons in 2025.

VEB expects total Russian natural gas exports to fall this year to 100 bcm from 131 bcm in 2022. According to Reuters calculations, pipeline natural gas exports to Europe by Kremlin-controlled Gazprom (GAZP.MM) have declined to around 17.7 bcm so far this year. Europe drastically cut purchases of Russian oil and gas following the start in February 2022 of what Moscow has called a special military operation in Ukraine. VEB also expects Russian crude oil exports to decline to 230 million tons (4.6 million barrels per day) this year from 248 million in 2022, amid a possible drop in supplies to the EU to 41 million tons from 115 million tons.
