The SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) has shown remarkable strength in 2024, soaring 40% between January and October. For those who missed the rally, November offers a potential opportunity as GLD has pulled back 8% from its all-time highs, creating a dip-buying scenario. DMI (Directional Movement Index): The DMI is composed of three lines: DI+ (green line), DI- (red line), and ADX (blue line). When the DI- (red line) is above the DI+ (green line), it indicates a downtrend. Note that both DI- and DI+ are changing direction, which provides the first indication of a possible trend change.

Following Monday's trade, Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust will own 550 shares of DHR, increasing its weighting to roughly 3.6% from 3.4%. Since the election, Danaher shares have fallen from $250 each to $230 while Eli Lilly shares have dropped from $806 to $720. LLY YTD mountain Eli Lilly YTD Eli Lilly shares fell from $903 to $846 after a disappointing third-quarter report where inventory destocking of its fast-selling GLP-1 medications caused the company to miss estimates and lower full-year guidance. But the possible appointment of RFK Jr. has created a whole host of uncertainty for Eli Lilly and the drug stocks at large. If you look out to 2026, Lilly shares are trading at roughly 24 times.

First, let's recognize the strength of the uptrend in gold leading into November 2024. While the two trends were both higher in October, a post-election surge in the US Dollar appeared to signal the end of the golden era of gold in 2024. And while the long-term chart of gold remains in decent shape, the short-term reversal in recent weeks has pushed gold stocks down to key price support. Now the GDX is testing its 200-day moving average, which also represents a 50% retracement of the 2024 bull phase. In terms of a longer-term inflection point for gold, it's all about finding signs of accumulation.

The iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV) has been getting a lot of attention, and rightly so. Things have recently accelerated in November, and Tuesday, the IGV Software ETF was one of just three ETFs we track to make new all-time highs. Within the IGV Software ETF, it also has the third biggest weighting, but it's behind both CRM and ORCL. More importantly, MSFT has been noticeably lagging the IGV ETF across various time frames. The potential good news is that: 1. the ratio line remains in a long-term uptrend and 2. the last two oversold conditions happened near major relative trading lows.

The S & P 500 last week scored its best week since November 2023, hitting the 6,000 mark, while the 30-stock Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed above 44,000. Stocks seen as early beneficiaries, among them steelmakers and banks, are losing momentum, while others like Tesla are continuing to climb. Its shares are nearly flat week so far this week. Take a look at the lot: Tesla 's the most popular winner in the group, gaining roughly 21% since Nov. 6, boosted by CEO Elon Musk's close relationship with Trump. Other than Tesla, energy stocks Coterra Energy and Baker Hughes are also moving higher, the latter gaining more than 15% just this month.

Several software companies could be due for a pullback after the stock market's roaring rally this week, fueled by president-elect Donald Trump's election victory as well as robust quarterly earnings reports. Shares of video game makers Take-Two Interactive Software and Electronic Arts are two of the stocks that are technically overbought right now, according to the analysis. The most overbought stock this week was human capital management software company Dayforce, with an RSI of 92.4. But higher prices and expectations of normalizing pricing, which helped Coke guide its organic revenue growth this year to the high end of a prior forecast, could lead the stocks higher. Other oversold stocks include power generation company AES , as well as radio frequency equipment maker Qorvo and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals — the latter two of which were also oversold the previous week.

A pro-business agenda, regulatory flexibility, and potential tax incentives under his administration could once again set the stage for technology stocks to outperform. Adobe (ADBE) , a leader in AI-enhanced creative solutions, is particularly well-positioned to capitalize on this environment. With its superior growth rates and operational margins that set it apart from peers, Adobe's valuation presents a compelling entry point amid strong fundamentals and a supportive administration. This signals that sellers are starting to get exhausted and presents an opportunity for buyers to start stepping in for a strong counter-trend rally. To capitalize on a potential rally in Adobe, consider buying the December 20, 2024, $500/550 Call Vertical @ $18.05 Debit.

Several stocks could rise if market volatility scales back after Tuesday's U.S. presidential election, according to a Bank of America analysis. Stock market volatility climbed ahead of the election, with the Cboe Volatility Index , known as Wall Street's "fear gauge," crossing 23 on Thursday. But with the winner of the election decided, the VIX has eased to around 16 on Wednesday. To react to this scenario, Bank of America screened for several lower-quality stocks inversely correlated to the VIX that could see a pop in their share prices. Morgan Stanley revised its 2024-25 revenue estimates on NXP lower, expecting a period of stagnation in the automotive semiconductor market.

Investors have been accumulating shares of several big-name companies, from GE Vernova to United Airlines , during the market's recent dip. But those and other overbought stocks could be due for a pullback, according to one popular yardstick. Strong earnings from tech giants Amazon and Intel late Thursday were partly responsible for equity gains on Friday, as investors still look to megacap tech stocks for leadership. CNBC Pro screened for stocks that are considered technically overbought on the basis of their 14-day relative strength index, or RSI. Companies with a 14-day RSI above 70 are often regarded as overbought, signaling a pullback may be ahead, while a 14-day RSI below 30 often suggests a stock is oversold and could see future upside.

Year-to-date, shares in Exxon have gained 16.7%, while the stock of Barrick and Microsoft have gained around 10.8% and 15% respectively. Microsoft Teng remains bullish on Microsoft, despite Wrise making a "partial switch" and reducing its weight in the tech giant while increasing allocations to Nvidia in early August. Microsoft and and Nvidia are among the so-called Magnificent Seven stocks, which also include Alphabet , Amazon , Apple , Meta Platforms and Tesla . The stock is consolidating just below all-time highs and if Netflix's move after earnings is any indication, I think SPOT should punch through to new all-time highs. We're currently trading at $386, just below the all-time highs of $387 set back in 2021. The earnings trajectory for this company has been insane: 2022 EPS ($3.09) 2023 EPS ($2.95) 2024 EPS +$6.37 2025 EPS +$9.06 (est.) Netflix beat expectations and broke to new all-time highs led by new subs, 50% of which are coming from an ad tier. Why health care could be a winner heading into year-end
  + stars: | 2024-10-09 | by ( Fred Imbert | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +2 min
Health care may be the answer, if history is any indication. The Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) has posted a November gain in eight of the last 10 years. Health care trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 22.2, while the S & P 500 has a multiple of 24. The optimism around health care comes as the sector lags the broader market. Some health care names poised to do well, according to Krinsky, are Masimo and Viking Therapeutics .

Goldman Sachs is the latest in a flurry of calls to upgrade China stocks after the Asian giant's recent wave of stimulus measures. Goldman predicts that Chinese stocks could even jump a further 15% to 20%, given the powerful comeback rally that has already occurred. It says the MSCI China index could have another 15% upside, and the CSI 300 index could enjoy a further 18% upside. In a Monday note, Citi also increased its price target for Chinese stocks. Following that, Wall Street started getting bullish on those stocks again, with Morgan Stanley predicting Chinese stocks are set to rally 10% and more.
