London CNN —Scientists in the United Kingdom have stored the entire human genome on a “5D memory crystal,” in the hope that it could be used in the future as a blueprint to bring humanity back from extinction. The crystal is stored in the Memory of Mankind archive in Hallstatt, Austria. “The visual key inscribed on the crystal gives the finder knowledge of what data is stored inside and how it could be used,” said Kazansky. In 2018, Kazansky and his team used the memory crystal technology to store Isaac Asimov’s “Foundation” trilogy of science fiction books, which were then launched into space aboard a Tesla Roadster. The technology has also been used to store major documents from human history, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Magna Carta.

A hotter-than-expected consumer price index on Tuesday sent stocks reeling, with the Dow posting its biggest drop in a year. A lab in China made a fabric that can keep skin temperature 9 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than cotton. Brands including Bearbottom Clothing, LifeLabs, and Mission have products like t-shirts that can cool you down by 3 degrees Fahrenheit and hats that get 23 degrees Fahrenheit cooler when wet. Guangming TaoThe temperature of the student's skin wearing the side with the metafabric was 4.8 degrees Celsius, or about 9 degrees Fahrenheit, cooler than the side covered in cotton. Athletes, construction workers, soldiers, and others could benefit from wearing the cooling fabric, Tao said.

PARIS, June 7 (Reuters) - Semiconductor supplier STMicroelectronics (STMPA.PA) and Sanan Optoelectronics (600703.SS) plan to set up a silicon carbide manufacturing joint venture in Chongqing, China, they said on Wednesday. The companies said the cost of the venture was expected to be about $3.2 billion, including capital expenditure of about $2.4 billion over the next five years. The venture will produce silicon carbide devices exclusively for STMicroelectronics which are used in electric cars and other industrial power and energy applications. "China is moving fast towards electrification in automotive and industrial and this is a market where ST is already well-established with many engaged customer programs.
