What can news outlets do to regain trust and appeal to new audiences without alienating existing readers and viewers? For the past week, CNN’s media team has been receiving feedback from readers of the Reliable Sources newsletter. Mainstream media outlets have been losing public trust for decades, particularly among Republicans, but also among Democrats and independents. Maybe, CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan commented last week, the media collectively spent “too much time obsessing about polling (where did that get us?) As long as President-elect Donald Trump keeps repeating lies and raising controversies, the press will be seen as a hostile force by many Trump voters.

CNN —The photograph could have been taken at any birthday party: three girls in dresses standing side-by-side in a living room, balloons and streamers strung up around an entryway. Hayeri and Cornet have met with some of the same girls at different events over the course of their work together, including this earlier birthday party in February. Over the course of the six months, Hayeri and Cornet repeatedly photographed the teenage girls in the birthday party portrait, as well as their extended circle of friends. “In this particular case, it was a 16-year-old’s birthday party for one of the girls,” Cornet said. “Resistance for Afghan women cannot mean to go on the street and protest, to be outspoken,” Hayeri said.

The reality is that both parties learn lessons from losing elections that apply only in the short term — say, from one presidential election to the next midterm or from one midterm to the next presidential election. Not anymore — it’s why Democrats usually overperform in special elections, with more devoted “every election” voters right now. Meanwhile, in the non-battlegrounds, which were more affected by the basic “mood music” of the election, Democrats were shellacked. The seeds of discontent with this version of the Democratic Party can be traced back a decade to Obama’s decision to anoint Hillary Clinton as his successor. A lot of people swear that these and other productivity hacks will help you get on top of your responsibilities and gain control of your time. They all left author and time management researcher Oliver Burkeman "pretty disillusioned," he tells CNBC Make It. If you feel like you're constantly trying to optimize your life, Burkeman has a counterintuitive piece of advice: Get comfortable with settling instead, he said on a recent episode of LinkedIn's "Everyday Better with Leah Smart" podcast. "Settling is not really about settling for less. Eventually, you'll probably have to accept the fact that you need to reschedule your meeting and stop taking on more work.

I was a plump, complex, introverted, spotty-faced teen and felt like such a disappointment to my family of high achievers. I stopped checking how much I weighed and started living my life. As I listened to my body, I could feel it start to change shape from a pear to an inverted triangle. Every year, I have felt even better about who I am as a whole — body and soul. I lead a dietless life, fuelled by healthy living, and am no longer defined by a number.

Trump won the presidency in 2016 by stunning Democrat Hillary Clinton to win all three states by a combined margin of about 80,000 votes. But, as in other states, Democrats have been concerned about the risk of depressed turnout and some gains for Trump among Black voters in Philadelphia. Eight years later, the two states split again, when Roosevelt comfortably won Pennsylvania and Michigan narrowly went to Republican Wendell Willkie. This trio of states has arguably become the most consistent tipping point in American politics. In the nine elections since 1920 when they split their vote, the candidate who carried two of these three states won seven times.

The top 1% aren't the only ones with a target on their backs: Those in the $400,000 to $1 million income bracket could see their capital gains tax rise under her. There has also been concern about whether the step-up in basis, a provision that adjusts capital gains taxes for inherited assets, could be repealed. A 1031 Exchange is popularly used to sell and buy investment property while deferring capital gains tax until future generations inherit it. Once they do, a step-up basis can be used to dismiss those previous capital gains taxes. As a new school year begins, I reminisce about unwrapping fresh school supplies and reuniting with friends after a summer apart. It's my biggest regret from college: I don't wish I worked harder or studied more — I wish I cared less about my GPA. The sacrifices I made to get near-perfect grades seemed worth it when I graduated from Northwestern with honors in 2019. And if you're planning on getting a postgraduate degree, like going to law or medical school, your GPA will be an integral part of your admission decision. Those, I believe, will do more for your career prospects than a 4.0 ever could.

Along with its S24 series of smartphones, foldable devices, smartwatches and now the Galaxy Ring, Samsung is hoping to lock users into its world of products held together with its suite of artificial intelligence features, known as Galaxy AI. Arjun KharpalOne of the things Samsung said was look, the ring is one product, but we've got the watch, we've got the smartphone. I think that's the right approach for Samsung, I don't think they have unrealistic expectations for volumes on this. Margin trading, aka buying on margin, is the practice of borrowing money from your stock broker to buy stocks, bonds, ETFs, or other market securities. But keep in mind that margin trading amplifies losses just as it does for profits. Advantages of margin tradingWhile it may seem that margin trading means bigger profits, that's not technically true. Dangers of margin tradingUsing leverage to increase investment size, as margin trading does, is a two-edged sword. But provided that you fully understand the risks and costs, margin trading could increase your profits and return on your investments.
