Twelve percent of parents worry that their child’s anger could lead to problems, according to a new C.S. Many parents also expressed concern about the example they set for their children, with 70% saying they sometimes model poor anger management themselves. These parents are also more likely to feel they might be demonstrating poor anger management techniques, worry about the potential problems caused by their child’s anger and note that their child has encountered negative repercussions when angry. In fact, 30% of parents report they have not received advice on how to help their child manage their anger. Although more than 60% of parents say their child has learned anger management techniques at school, less than half say the school provides resources to help parents address the issue at home.

The reality of the American air travel system is that powerful forces keep passengers flying the same carriers, even after service meltdowns like Delta just suffered. For passengers who live near one of the hubs where Delta controls most of the flights, such as Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis or Salt Lake City, choices are even more limited. The IMF said Wednesday that increased government spending, growing public debt and elevated interest rates in the United States had contributed to high and volatile yields — or interest rates — on Treasuries, raising the risk of higher rates elsewhere. “Loose fiscal policy in the United States exerts upward pressure on global interest rates and the dollar,” Vitor Gaspar, director of the IMF’s fiscal affairs department, told reporters. Higher interest rates make it more costly for households and businesses to service their loans, which can lead to defaults that cause losses at banks and other lenders, increasing financial instability. That means that even if the Fed cuts interest rates later this year — the IMF’s central scenario — US government funding costs may not fall by the same margin, he added. The IMF expects US public debt to continue rising, helping drive government debt worldwide to close to 100% of global gross domestic product by 2029, from 93% last year.

As child psychologists, we've developed an acronym that can assist us all through this process, regardless of our child's age: H.E.L.P. Whatever their action, before you react, it's smart to stop and ask yourself: Where is their behavior coming from? An underdeveloped thinking brain, an overactive emotional brain, and a lack of perspective leads to chaos and poor decision-making. Or is my reaction a reasonable response to my child's behavior, like if my child yelled "I hate you," and my feelings are hurt?
