Which leads me to gently note: Hey, Republican Party, pay attention! You are being herded toward potential financial ruin. One might assume that a presidential nominee who generates as much devotion as Mr. Trump would be a financial boon to his party. With Mr. Trump, everything is about Mr. Trump. STRONG PASSIONS: A Scandalous Divorce in Old New York, by Barbara WeisbergThe touch of a hand from two centuries ago can spark powerful emotions in the present. In Jane Austen’s novel, their chemistry leads to marriage and the elevation of the heroine’s fortunes. But in New York in 1860, a real-life brush of hands “ignited a fiery and forbidden passion” between members of two prominent families. Their romance wrecked a marriage, destroyed the woman’s reputation and resulted in a lurid divorce trial whose salacious details filled pages of the nation’s newspapers. In “Strong Passions,” her riveting reconstruction of a scandal that “rocked genteel society,” Barbara Weisberg reassembles the story with the clear determination to treat both sides equally, and without leering.

I'm not sure why the realization that I was getting along in years surprised me so much. I don't want to look like I'm trying too hardNow that I'm thinking more about my age, I often wonder if I'm trying too hard to appear young . I don't spend every waking moment cursing the young and trying to get men to look at me. (I also know from experience that Aveeno products will not make you look anything like Jennifer Aniston, unfortunately.) But I will never wear a bra as a shirt, no matter how cute I feel, because I am 38.

For Nasreen, getting to New Delhi after she ran away from her family and the betrothal they had arranged for her was a daring feat. In the winter, the air pollution was among the worst in the world, clinging to skin and choking lungs. In her family’s flat, she cooked on a stove that added to the heat and smoke. When she could get outside, she had to walk a gantlet of leering men who lined the sidewalks. Delhi inspired her to dream of a bigger life and connected her to people who could help her reach for it.

REUTERS/Stringer Acquire Licensing RightsMOSCOW, Aug 31 (Reuters) - The co-founder and military commander of the Russian mercenary group Wagner was buried near Moscow on Thursday, after dying in an unexplained plane crash that also killed his boss Yevgeny Prigozhin. Before helping to found Wagner as Prigozhin's shadowy right-hand man, Utkin was a special forces lieutenant colonel in the GRU military intelligence service. He fought for Wagner to support Moscow's military campaigns in Syria and Ukraine, and was photographed in 2016 at the Kremlin with President Vladimir Putin. Utkin, Prigozhin and Wagner's head of logistics, Valery Chekalov, were among 10 people who died when Prigozhin's Embraer Legacy 600 private jet plunged from the sky north of Moscow on Aug. 23. After a deal ended the mutiny, Utkin said in a speech to Wagner fighters: "This is not the end.

Mr. Heuermann went on to college at New York Institute of Technology on Long Island to study architectural technology. One of the few neighbors Mr. Heuermann spoke to was Etienne de Villiers, 68, whose immaculately kept house next door stood in keen contrast with Mr. Heuermann’s. Mr. de Villiers said he had only passing conversations with Mr. Heuermann along with a few minor conflicts, like the time he had to tell Mr. Heuermann to stop leering at his wife over the backyard fence while she was sunbathing. Mr. de Villiers watched as Mr. Heuermann seemed to be raising his children to be as isolated as he had been, in the same rundown off-limits house. “He just didn’t want any part of it, he didn’t want any part of sports,” Mr. DeMicoli said.

The vote meant Zephyr could no longer enter the House chamber, so she worked from a public bench in the hallway outside. State Rep. Zooey Zephyr sits on a bench just outside the main chamber of the House on April 27 in Helena, Montana. The censure prevents Zephyr from entering the House floor, so she has instead been working from a public bench outside the chamber. Photos from the time show authorities in different cities escorting Black children to school through throngs of glaring white protestors. Similarly, a group of supporters on Tuesday managed to hold Zephyr's seat outside the chamber for her, the lawmaker said.
Grady Hendrix, the author of "How to Sell a Haunted House," said his idea for the novel began during the pandemic, when many of us were becoming more aware of our parents' mortality. I talked to Hendrix about his new novel and the subject of haunted houses and trying to sell them. Grady Hendrix author, "How to Sell a Haunted House"AN: What are some of the things that people told you about living in a haunted house? When real estate is getting fraught and the economy is doing funny things, haunted houses appear. If you feel like your house is haunted, then your house is haunted, you know?
In 2010, three of Marilyn Monroe’s chest and pelvis X-rays sold for $45,000. The real-life Monroe was gutsy enough to break a contract with 20th Century Fox and start her own production company, which she named Marilyn Monroe Productions. American actress Marilyn Monroe in Times Square, New York City, on December 12, 1955. I’m not saying films about Marilyn Monroe must be filled with butterflies and sunshine, or that art should never be difficult or emotionally disturbing. We are ultimately left with a bleak vision of Monroe’s life, albeit one that, perhaps due to de Armas’ acting more than the script itself, is still affecting.
