STORRS, Conn. — UConn women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma passed Tara VanDerveer as college basketball’s all-time winningest coach with the Huskies’ win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday night in Storrs. Advertisement“This is yet another outstanding milestone in a career filled with them for Geno Auriemma,” VanDerveer said in a statement. Alone, he has more NCAA Tournament wins than any program in men’s or women’s college basketball. In 1995, Lobo’s senior season, UConn won its first national title. From 2013 to 2016, the Huskies won four national titles and set a college basketball record by winning 111 consecutive games.

He’s going to be a killer rebounder, monster screener and will consistently establish his position even against some of the stronger NBA players. I’m done doubting Edey, even as an NBA player. As an enormous ballhandler with serious touch and incredible vision as a passer, Topić is clearly an NBA player, even if it doesn’t all translate. Shannon is an elite athlete, but the NBA game requires more nuance, especially if he continues to be an inconsistent shooter. However, I also think he’s more than just a floor spacer on offense in spot-up situations and potentially as an off-ball scorer.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Jalen Brunson scored 42 points, becoming the fourth player in franchise history with 40 or more in consecutive games, and the New York Knicks beat the Sacramento Kings 98-91 on Saturday night. He's the first Knicks player to reach that total in back-to-back games since Carmelo Anthony on Feb. 19 and 21, 2014. Isaiah Hartenstein was a force on the defensive end, blocking five shots and grabbing 14 rebounds, along with seven points. De’Aaron Fox added 20 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, but was held to 5-for-19 shooting. The Knicks led 53-48 at the half and extended the advantage to nine early in the third quarter on a pair of layups by Brunson.

Gilbert finished with 16 points as the Cyclones rolled to the 69-41 victory, giving them their sixth Big 12 trophy in their sixth title game appearance. Iowa State used an 18-3 run to turn a 30-23 halftime lead into the kind of blowout Sampson has rarely experienced. But don't lose sight of how good you have to be to get here.”It doesn’t seem to matter who is coaching Iowa State at the Big 12 Tournament, either. And when they got those buckets to go, it freed up Momcilovic and the rest of the Iowa State sharpshooters to begin draining 3-pointers. Cougars big man J'Wan Roberts was largely ineffective, too, after hurting his right leg and playing sparingly in their semifinal rout of Texas Tech.

ESTERO, Fla. (AP) — If one was to break down Florida Gulf Coast’s scoring so far this season by position, this would be the mathematics:— 0% from guards. The Eagles have 16 players on their roster, and every one of them is listed at the same position: shooter. Some may seem like guards, some may have post moves like forwards or centers, but the Eagles just classify everyone the same way. There have been seven instances in Division I women's basketball history where a team finished a season with at least 393 made 3's. “And then we were like, ‘We’ll just put shooter.’ Most of our kids are really good shooters and for other kids, it’s aspirational.

[1/5] Jun 4, 2023; Denver, CO, USA; Miami Heat guard Gabe Vincent (2) controls the ball against Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. (1) in the first half in game two of the 2023 NBA Finals at Ball Arena. Gabe Vincent made 8 of 12 shot attempts from the floor -- including 4 of 6 from 3-point range -- as the Heat outscored the Nuggets by a 36-25 margin in the fourth quarter. I mean, this is the NBA Finals and we're talking about effort. This is the NBA Finals. Kyle Lowry's 3-pointer trimmed the Nuggets' lead to 77-75 with 2:08 left in the third quarter before Jokic scored the final six points of the period.

It was a public vote of confidence after a game full of missed opportunities for the Heat. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, their two best players, combined to shoot 9 of 37 from the field. There he was in the second quarter, handling the ball at the top of the perimeter with the shot clock winding down. In the fourth quarter, for example, Adebayo grabbed the rim blocking a shot, which was against the rules and led to a 4-point possession for the Celtics. As a team, the Heat shot 35.5 percent from the field.
Coach Steve Kerr likes to stage his film sessions there when the space is available. Otherwise, he said, the team is stuck “in the dungeon down below,” outside its locker room. He was grateful for the open space, especially ahead of Sunday’s Game 7. That can make a difference.”Something else can make a difference, too: Stephen Curry. No one seemed more Zen on Sunday than Curry, who led the Warriors to a series-clinching, 120-100 victory by skewering the Kings in every conceivable way on his way to 50 points — an N.B.A.
