A port workers' strike from Maine to Texas could deliver a major hit to the US economy. AdvertisementA strike involving port workers from Maine to Texas could inflict major damage to the US economy. The affected ports involve about half of the nation's ocean shipping. Analysts at JPMorgan have said the price tag for shutdowns related to the strike could reach $5 billion a day. Given that it's been decades since a major strike unfolded on the East Coast, he said, many companies were also likely caught off guard.

Using a peeler on ripe kiwis can crush them — use a spoon instead. A spoon can help remove the kiwi fruit from its skin. INSIDER/Kristen GriffinChef Scott Swartz, an associate professor at The Culinary Institute of America, said using a peeler on a really ripe kiwi will most likely crush it. "A great trick is to cut off the top and bottom, then insert a spoon close to the skin and run it around the inside to release the whole center," he told BI.

However, Kiwis practiced "fearless parenting," reinforcing a sense of adventure, the need for sustainability, and problem-solving skills from birth through childhood. This is when I learned that most Kiwi parents tend to measure danger in two categories — possible or probable. New Zealand parents rely on imagination and ingenuity to make use of old things, so there is a tendency to conserve more and waste less. Travel constipation: Causes and treatments

This predicament is known as travel constipation, when people who typically don’t have digestive problems at home develop “the characteristic symptoms of constipation” while they’re traveling, said Dr. Darren Brenner, a gastroenterologist and professor of medicine and surgery at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Illinois. Some people experience constipation on some trips, while others do every time they travel. Here are some of the most common causes of travel constipation and what you can do about them. Throwing off your circadian rhythmSome digestive health experts have theorized that being in a different time zone or following a new schedule during travel could contribute to travel constipation by throwing off your circadian rhythm — physical, mental and behavioral changes that happen over a 24-hour cycle. Some natural laxatives that can help include high-fiber fruits such as kiwis, mangoes and prunes, experts said.

Former Australia all-rounder Simon O'Donnell slammed the Black Caps for their lack of competitive instinct but Mitchell, who scored a 119-ball 134 in New Zealand's response, said the approach would not change. "I think that's something we really pride ourselves on as Black Caps and as New Zealanders. "It's something that we're really proud of, so we'll just keep being Black Caps and doing what we're doing." New Zealand next travel to Bangladesh for a two-test series starting on Nov. 28 and Mitchell said the disappointment of their semi-final exit at the World Cup would not have any impact on their performance. Needing 19 runs off Mitchell Starc's final over, New Zealand milked 13 runs off the first four legitimate deliveries to keep the heat on Australia. "That was awesome," Australia captain Pat Cummins said after their fourth win in six matches. Glenn Phillips broke the burgeoning stand by taking a return catch to dismiss Warner, but Head raced to a 59-ball century. New Zealand were uncharacteristically sloppy in the field, dropping five catches, with Head the beneficiary on two occasions. That left Ferguson with the job of hitting the final delivery for six, but he drilled it straight to the cover fielder instead.

CNN —South Africa and New Zealand will meet on Saturday in a Rugby World Cup final for the first time since 1995. On that occasion, it was tournament host South Africa which won a close fought contest 15-12 to lift the Webb Ellis Cup for the first time. Twenty-four years on from that enduring moment, it was the inspiring Siya Kolisi who led his country to victory in the 2019 final against England, becoming the first Black captain to lead South Africa to World Cup glory. Indeed, his participation in this year’s World Cup is also nothing short of remarkable. South Africa or New Zealand will become the first nation to win the Rugby World Cup four times.

All Blacks coach Ian Foster changed his lock combination again with Brodie Retallick restored to the lineup and Sam Whitelock returning to the list of replacements in the only change to the starting team. New Zealand believe the 35-year-old Whitelock, playing his third World Cup final, is most effective coming off the bench, and could bring an injection of energy at a time when South Africa are refreshing their forwards. Six of New Zealand's matchday squad for the game are previous World Cup winners and the 23-man team has a collective total of 1,387 caps, making it the most experienced All Blacks squad for any of their record five World Cup finals appearances. "We've woken up this week to find ourselves in a World Cup final and we've worked to deal with all the distractions. REUTERS/David Gray/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsWELLINGTON, Sept 12 (Reuters) - New Zealand’s government on Tuesday predicted a larger budget deficit but better-than-expected economic conditions in the year ahead, as it updated forecasts heading into the October election. The government forecast a budget deficit of NZ$11.4 billion ($6.7 billion) for the year ending June 30, 2024, much larger than a deficit of NZ$7.6 billion estimated in May. The global economy has deteriorated since May, which is having a direct impact on New Zealand's economy while tax revenue is also falling, Finance Minister Grant Robertson said in a statement. "Treasury’s latest forecasts show the economy isn’t working for Kiwis," said National Party leader Christopher Luxon. REUTERS/David Gray/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsAug 29 (Reuters) - New Zealand said on Tuesday it would introduce legislation for a digital services tax on large multinational companies from 2025 after talks for a global rollout did not reach consensus at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). But the proposal was pushed back last month after countries with digital services taxes, with the exception of Canada, agreed to hold off applying them for at least another year. The proposed digital services tax will target multinational businesses that earn income from New Zealand users of social media platforms, search engines, and online marketplaces. The tax would be payable by businesses that make over 750 million euros ($812 million) a year from global digital services and over NZ$3.5 million a year from digital services provided to New Zealand users. The tax would be applied at 3% on gross taxable New Zealand digital services revenue, a similar rate adopted by comparable countries like France and the United Kingdom.

Despite costing nearly twice as much as standard green kiwis, golden kiwis have proven more popular — and more profitable. How often should you poop?
  + stars: | 2023-07-12 | by ( Kristen Rogers | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +6 min
CNN —Everyone poops, but it turns out we don’t all need to poop every day. It’s helpful to know what your poop looks like in addition to just how often you poop. But if you’re excessively straining when trying to poop or feeling like you haven’t totally emptied your bowel, you may need to make changes to either poop more often or have healthier stool quality, experts said. But if we’re stressed, hormones and nervous system changes can prevent poop from moving toward the rectum, resulting in constipation. But don’t delay — the right time to poop is when you’re feeling the urge to do so, experts said.
