Mount Halla, measuring 1,947 meters (1.2 miles) tall, is the country’s highest mountain and located on popular vacation destination Jeju Island. Mount Halla is part of the UNESCO-listed Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes heritage site. Last year, 923,680 people visited the mountain, according to government statistics. China is punishing citizens who can't repay their debts by cutting off access to social services. So-called deadbeat debtors are blacklisted, facing travel restrictions and government jobs. That means that delinquent debtors are restricted from accessing some services in the country, like high-speed trains and air travel. Unlike most other countries, China doesn't allow most people to write off their debts with bankruptcy, per the Journal. The worst offenders may face trouble getting loans and travel restrictions — similar to the experience of blacklisted debtors.
