The sleep apnea notification is available on the latest Series 10 Apple Watches and some older models after a software update. In order to detect sleep apnea, the watch measures breathing disturbances during sleep over 30 days. But the US Food and Drug Administration approved marketing of the sleep apnea feature on Apple Watches in mid-September. The Apple Watch has a few of these capabilities, but the company did not factor them into the sleep apnea feature.

BALTIMORE (AP) — A Baltimore County police officer is accused of using excessive force when he pepper sprayed a handcuffed man in the face and closed him inside a hot patrol car, even as the man repeatedly said he couldn’t breathe. A 19-year veteran of the Baltimore County Police Department, Small previously served in the Military Police, according to his attorney. “Like all citizens, Officer Small is entitled to the presumption of innocence,” attorney Brian Thompson said in an email. Small tried to slam the car door, but the man’s knee was in the way. It says the man started gasping, choking and calling for help while kicking the car door to get officers’ attention.

At Heart of Gold, a cozy bar in Queens, a mad scientist recently brought to life a corpse that went on a blood-drenched rampage. The occasion was a Monday night gathering of the Astoria Horror Club, which meets regularly to watch scary movies over hot dogs, mulled wine and other anything-but-popcorn concessions. Before the film, Tom Herrmann and Madeleine Koestner, the club’s co-founders, introduced “Re-Animator” with a trigger warning about a sexual assault scene and a reminder to generously tip the staff. The Astoria Horror Club is just one of many film clubs that, while not new in concept, are quietly thriving in and around New York City.
