A white former Kansas City, Kansas, police detective was found dead Monday on the day his federal civil rights trial was set to begin for allegedly sexually abusing Black women over decades, authorities said. An arrest warrant had been issued when Roger Golubski, 71, failed to appear at a federal courthouse in Topeka on the first day of jury selection. Golubski was charged in 2022 with federal civil rights crimes after he was accused of exploiting Black women for sex and framing people for crimes they say they did not commit. Golubski, who retired in 2010 after 35 years with the Kansas City Police Department, pleaded not guilty to six counts of deprivation of civil rights. The Kansas City Police Department has come under scrutiny over allegations of corruption and civil rights violations in recent years.

Now, new evidence from a skull more than 4,000 years old has revealed that ancient Egyptian physicians may have tried to treat certain cancers with surgery. “We can see that ancient Egyptian medicine was not solely based on herbal remedies like medicine in other ancient civilizations,” said Badr, who was not involved in the new research. “There is an urgent need to reevaluate the history of Egyptian medicine using these scientific methodologies,” Badr said. The earliest recorded observation of cancer is in an ancient Egyptian medical text known as the Edwin Smith Surgical Papyrus, which dates back to around 3000 BC to 2500 BC. But there was none for the breast cancer patient’s tumors, Camarós said.

The report also calls for the Church Commissioners to build up the value of the fund by bringing in co-investors while also increasing its own allocation. Instead, in a story filled with twists and turns, I ended up documenting the rare phenomenon of a shark regenerating a dorsal fin. Silky sharks are commonly found in the open ocean and grow to be 10 feet long. In the many shark photos he sent, I noticed a silky shark with an oddly shaped dorsal fin. COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — At first, the Norwegian man thought his metal detector reacted to chocolate money buried in the soil. It turned out to be nine pendants, three rings and 10 gold pearls in what was described as the country's gold find of the century. The rare find was made this summer by 51-year-old Erlend Bore on the southern island of Rennesoey, near the city of Stavanger. In August, Bore began walking around the mountainous island with his metal detector. The plan is to exhibit the find at the Archaeological Museum in Stavanger, about 300 kilometers (200 miles) southwest of Oslo.
