CNN —Pentagon officials are holding informal discussions about how the Department of Defense would respond if Donald Trump issues orders to deploy active-duty troops domestically and fire large swaths of apolitical staffers, defense officials told CNN. “Troops are compelled by law to disobey unlawful orders,” said another defense official. “But the question is what happens then – do we see resignations from senior military leaders? But there’s a critical philosophical question that lies beneath the legal questions in this case. In a representative democracy, the people are sovereign, and they express their sovereignty through representatives of their choice. If the courts presume to pre-emptively reject the people’s choice, then who is truly sovereign? The question of sovereignty was central to the purpose of the 14th Amendment in the first place.

Tacto, a small German AI supply chain startup, is set to raise new funding from US giant Sequoia and is already in talks with a different high-profile investor to raise another round. Sequoia is set to lead Tacto's Series A round, six sources familiar with the deal told Insider. Unusually, the startup has already begun talks to raise another round of funding in addition to the Sequoia deal. Tacto is also in talks with London-based Index Ventures to immediately raise another funding round, five sources said. Andreessen Horowitz led a seed round in tiny AI startup ElevenLabs in March, and is also in talks with months-old company Mistral.

CNN —Police are investigating the death of American ice hockey player Adam Johnson who died on Saturday after a “freak accident” while playing for the Nottingham Panthers in England. During the second period of the Panthers’ game against the Sheffield Steelers, Johnson appeared to suffer a serious injury after a collision with a Steelers player. It’s just an incredible tragedy.”The English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA), the governing body of ice hockey in England and Wales, released a statement on Monday detailing its commitment to improving player safety in the aftermath of Johnson’s death. In the short term, the EIHA said it strongly recommended that players at all levels in English Ice Hockey use a neck guard/protector during all on-ice activities. Johnson was born in Hibbing, Minnesota and started out his professional career in the American Hockey League.

Ukraine says it's devised a radio that's resistant to Russian radio jamming. According to Ukrainian media, the Himera radio has already reached the front lines.
