They “had nothing to do with the world of (practiced) tomb raiders” and were “clumsy” and “amateurish” in the way they tried to access the black market for looted art, the prosecutor said. Another Etruscan tomb, belonging to the same “Pulfna” family, was found in Città della Pieve in 2015.

The traditional peaceful Māori walk, or hīkoi, culminated outside parliament on Tuesday, where protesters implored lawmakers to reject the controversial Treaty Principles Bill that seeks to reinterpret the 184-year-old treaty between British colonizers and hundreds of Māori tribes. “Today is a show of kotahitanga (unity), solidarity and being one as a people and uphold our rights as Indigenous Māori,” marcher Tukukino Royal told Reuters. CNN —One year after bringing historic indictments against former President Donald Trump, the prosecutors left in special counsel Jack Smith’s office are gaming out legal options and bracing for retribution if Trump returns to the White House. In the event that Trump wins, staffers detailed to the special counsel’s office would have the option to go back to their home divisions within the Justice Department. But former prosecutors on the Trump case could face a difficult workplace, once Trump’s appointees are running the department. A state appeals court in New York on Thursday suspended Kenneth Chesebro, who struck a plea deal with prosecutors pursuing the 2020 election interference case against former President Donald Trump, from practicing law there. An attorney for Chesebro did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday evening. Some legal groups filed ethics complaints against Chesebro with the New York Supreme Court’s attorney grievance committee in 2022. Chesebro was admitted to practice law in New York in 2007. Jenna Ellis, another Trump attorney, was banned in May from practicing law in Colorado for three years.

(CNN) — A New York woman has been indicted on hate crime charges after allegedly pepper-spraying a Muslim Uber driver while he was praying, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Jennifer Guilbeault, 23, was indicted on multiple hate crime charges on Monday after allegedly pepper-spraying a 45-year-old Uber driver while he began praying in Arabic, according to a press release from the prosecutor. “As alleged, Jennifer Guilbeault senselessly assaulted a Muslim Uber driver while he was just doing his job. Everyone is welcome to live and work in Manhattan,” said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The charges against Guilbeault include one count each of Assault in the Second Degree as a Hate Crime, Assault in the Third Degree as a Hate Crime and Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree.

New York CNN —More than 250,000 Washington Post readers have canceled their subscriptions since the newspaper announced last week it would not make an endorsement in the presidential race, leading to a “huge spike” in cancelations, the Post reported late Tuesday. The number did not take into account any new subscribers the Post may have added since Friday or any subscribers who have since re-subscribed, the paper reported. The Post reported it began seeing a surge in cancelations within hours of the announcement. “I wish we had made the change earlier than we did, in a moment further from the election and the emotions around it,” Bezos wrote. Instead, Bezos framed his decision to end presidential endorsements as one designed to regain the trust of readers.
