In 1970 there had been only 18,333 students enrolled at degree-granting for-profit schools, less than a quarter of a percent of the total number of college students. In 2010, Tom Harkin, chair of the Senate's education committee, began a two-year investigation into for-profit schools. But even more shocking, federal money flowing to for-profit schools accounted for 25% of all federal student aid and 47% of eventual loan defaults. Students' money enriched every corner of the for-profit industry except one: quality of instruction. In fact, these for-profit students were actually worse off than if they hadn't gone to school at all.

Nov 22 (Reuters) - Unions representing hospitality staff in Las Vegas said on Wednesday that workers employed at Wynn Resorts (WYNN.O) have voted in favor to ratify a new five-year contract, days after similar moves by its competitors Caesars Entertainment (CZR.O) and MGM Resorts International (MGM.N). The unions, which represent about 5,000 employees at Wynn Resorts properties, said 99% of its members voted in favor of the new agreement. Earlier this week, union members at Caesars and MGM voted to ratify their contracts. The total compensation won by the Culinary Union for workers employed at MGM Resorts, Caesars Entertainment, and Wynn Resorts casino properties is about $2 billion over the five-year contract, according to Ted Pappageorge, secretary-treasurer at Culinary Union . Meanwhile, the unions said separate negotiations for 10,000 workers including cooks, bartenders and housekeepers, are ongoing with 24 smaller casinos and resorts for a new five-year contract.

Until the streaming relaunch, the show was hard to find, existing in DVDs at junk shops and in the depths of Amazon Prime Video. In recent days the Styles journalists Melissa Guerrero, Sadiba Hasan, Callie Holtermann and Louis Lucero — all members of the Millennial or Gen Z generations who had never seen “L.A. Law” — watched the first three episodes on Hulu. They shared their observations with the editors Minju Pak and Jim Windolf, who were fans of the show in its heyday. It was the subject of workplace conversation and countless think pieces, and it won 15 Emmys before the final gavel in 1994.

"This week Media Matters for America posted a story that completely misrepresented the real experience on X, in another attempt to undermine freedom of speech and mislead advertisers," a statement posted by Musk said. Canadian autoworkers union Unifor ratifies GM labor deal

The Canadian union, which represents about 4,300 workers at GM in these talks, said 80.5% of its members at facilities in Oshawa, St. Catharines and Woodstock voted in favor of the deal. The deal with GM followed the pattern set with Ford Motor (F.N), which settled with Unifor last month. In the United States, about 9,200 members of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union have affected two GM assembly plants and 18 parts distribution centers. GM also has furloughed about 2,300 U.S. workers due to the impact of the UAW strike. Unifor has used the "pattern bargaining" approach in its talks, reaching a deal first with Ford and then picking GM as the second bargaining target.
