"We believe it is key to remain invested and view any potential corrections as technical and temporary opportunities to get into the market," Julius Baer International's Portfolio Manager Aneka Beneby said. Against this backdrop, she observes a "come back" in the traditional 60/40 portfolio, where 60% of funds are invested in equities and the remaining 40% is allocated to fixed income. Overweight equities Looking ahead, Beneby is overweight on equities and prefers the asset class to fixed income given relatively high inflation levels. Her comments come as the consumer price index — a key metric measuring inflation levels — rose 2.6% in the U.S. in October, versus a year ago. Fixed income Unlike U.S. equity markets which have had a stellar rise, fixed income has been under pressure no thanks to high levels of volatility.

Investors face diminishing returns from cash alternatives as interest rates decline. Today, cash alternatives are yielding slightly less. Specifically, those who didn't have liquidity needs but chose to sit in cash anyway missed out on a strong year for the S&P 500. If liquidity needs arise, investors may be able to sell for a profit if the Fed's cutting cycle is steeper than expected, he added. Simply put, the M2 money supply, which includes cash and cash alternatives, has skyrocketed since 2020 by over 36%, debasing the dollar.

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink told CNBC's " Squawk on the Street " that he sees a future for bitcoin after previously being a " proud skeptic " of the cryptocurrency. "I'm a major believer that there's a role for bitcoin in portfolios," Fink said Monday, calling it "digital gold." The firm's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has raked in more than $18 billion since its launch in January, making it the biggest bitcoin exchange-traded fund. Fink said political risk and rising government debt are some of the reasons for investors to own bitcoin. Fink said even outside of bitcoin, he sees rising public spending as one of the biggest issues facing the world.

Raskin asked House Oversight Chairman James Comer to reprimand Greene for showing partially nude photos that are purportedly of Hunter Biden. Otherwise, Raskin cautioned, the panel's reputation "is rapidly being reduced to the level of a 1970s-era dime store peep show." I hope Ranking Member Raskin will join me in asking the Justice Department about Hunter Biden's Mann Act violations and why the victims' rights have been ignored." The Georgia Republican has alleged based on purported information obtained from Hunter Biden's laptop that he paid sex workers, potentially violating the century-plus old Mann Act. Rep. Becca Balint, a Vermont Democrat, is pushing a censure of Greene for a litany of past actions, including showing the purported Biden photos.

If you look at price increases over the past year, overall inflation has come down a lot, but much of that reflects falling gasoline prices, so the traditional measure of core inflation, which doesn’t include those gas price cuts, has barely fallen at all. To see why, it’s helpful to know something about the history of why we typically talk about two different measures of inflation. Inflation caused by, say, a spike in oil prices tends to be easy come, easy go, but inflation driven by, say, rising wages tends to have a lot of inertia and be hard to bring down. Or to put it another way, a measure that excluded more volatile prices could help extract the signal from the noise. The Fed, however, kept calm and carried on, because core inflation remained subdued — and the Fed was right.

In this account, the “deep state” has always had it in for Mr. Trump, targeting him for things that other officials, especially Democrats, get away with. “If you’re Donald Trump, they’re going to come get you for anything,” Byron Donalds, a Florida congressman, said on CNN on Tuesday. In contrast, it has taken the government more than a year to get the hundreds of classified documents Mr. Trump took from the White House. Even now, it would be foolish to assume that everything in Mr. Trump’s possession has been turned over. And what of Mrs. Clinton, against whom Mr. Trump still seems to believe he is running, seven years later?

Elon Musk often tweets out old memes and enjoys trolling people. And as one user pointed out its founder is "a notorious shitposter," Musk said it was "a good sign." If you've had a look at Elon Musk's tweets, you'll know that he's a big fan of posting fairly dated, and sometimes conspiratorial, memes. "Only fitting that Twitter's first acquisition in the Elon era is a company run by a notorious shitposter," Austen Allred, a tech founder, tweeted Tuesday night in reference to Laskie's founder, Chris Bakke. "I regard that as a good sign :)," Musk replied at around 1.a.m PT.
Over the next six years, each of the other members of my family would leave. I entered the diner having functioned as an only child for nearly 50 years. As the youngest in my family of five, I looked up to my oldest brother as little sisters often do. I entered the diner having functioned as an only child for nearly 50 years. This was no Hollywood family reunion, but I sensed that his validation of my perspective would lessen my internal demons.
Gold will keep losing its irrational luster

NEW YORK, Sept 27 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Imagine telling gold bugs a decade ago that a pandemic, war in Europe and 8% U.S. inflation were coming. Believers say gold has been a store of value for millennia and offers a hedge against inflation and societal problems. While gold bulls worry about central banks debasing currencies by printing more, miners also keep extracting gold. About 205,000 tonnes worth some $11 trillion is held above ground and annual production has increased 26% since 2010, according to the World Gold Council. It was $1,763 a decade ago, according to the World Gold Council.
Banknotes of Japanese yen are seen in this illustration picture taken September 22, 2022. Thursday's sudden burst of yen-buying intervention by Japanese authorities -- the first instance since 1998 - caused a large 6 yen move between 140 and 146 in the dollar-yen exchange rate . U.S. policy rates are now 3 percentage points higher than Japan's. Governor Haruhiko Kuroda made clear that policy won't change, and even the yen the BOJ is buying as part of intervention will be replaced. while the boj intervened heavily between april and june 1998, the yen didn't trough until September.
