Atlanta Braves pitcher Chris Sale and Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal won the Cy Young Award for the best pitchers in their respective leagues, MLB announced Tuesday. Sale won the National League honor while Skubal won the American League’s. Both Sale and Skubal won their respective league’s Triple Crown in 2024, leading the NL and AL in wins, ERA and strikeouts. Sale is the first NL player to win the pitching Triple Crown since 2011. Skubal also became the first AL player to win the pitching Triple Crown in a full season since 2011.

Soto, 26, is hands down this winter’s most highly sought-after free agent, valued as much for his elite baseball skills as for his birth date. And in an age of swing-for-the-fences baseball, Soto struck out just 16.7% of the time, while the league whiffed at a 22.2% clip this season. Free agency is “going to be exciting,” Soto told reporters moments after the Yankees lost Game 5 of the World Series, ending the baseball season. In a new motion filed Wednesday, the animal rights organization accused exotic animal broker Tonia Haddix of committing perjury and violating previous court orders, citing the recent HBO docuseries “Chimp Crazy” as evidence. Distance raised the cash injection in a seed round led by GV, with existing investors FOV Ventures and Maki.vc also stumping up more cash for the startup, the company told CNBC on Thursday. Konttori was formerly chief technology officer of Varjo, another Helsinki-based mixed-reality firm. "The main difference here is that we are driven by the software," Mäkinen told CNBC. For now, Distance has had to use simple optics and normal LCD displays to demonstrate its technology to prospective partners and investors.

The League 42 youth baseball league plans to unveil a replacement statue of Robinson crafted from the original mold Monday at a park in Wichita, Kansas. The city was shocked when the statue was cut from its base in January, leaving only the statue’s feet behind. He was sentenced to 18 months and ordered to pay $41,500 restitution for stealing the statue.
