Storied Swiss watch maker Patek Philippe announced its first new collection in 25 years this week, dubbed the Cubitus line. The new collection comes at a time when luxury watch prices have largely stabilized, fueled by strong demand. Patek Philippe's new collection also includes new cufflinks, designed to match the watches with a white-gold frame that reflect the case's shape. Patek Philippe, founded in 1839, is often referred to as one of "The Holy Trinity" in watch making, along with Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin. The brand's last new collection before the Cubitus line was back in 1999 when it released the Twenty~4 design.

Oct 26(Reuters) - Oct 26 (Reuters) - German chip equipment supplier Siltronic improved its sales outlook on Thursday based on stronger revenue expected in the fourth quarter, forecasting a less severe slump this year than previously feared. The company now expects sales to drop by up to 17% this year, versus a previously forecast fall of up to 19%. The provider of silicon wafers for the semiconductor industry reported a 26% drop in its third-quarter sales to 349 million euros ($368 million). "Siltronic delivered a good Q3 beating consensus estimates across the board despite the continued demand weakness as a result of the inventory correction at semi-manufacturers", says Jefferies' analyst Constantin Hesse. Despite the weakened demand, Q4 sales are expected to be better on a quarterly basis indicating a potential low point in Q3, he added.

There are plans to open the Olari Cultural Center, a new institution on Olari Street, in September. It will showcase Horezu ceramics, host conferences and present demonstrations by potters. Earlier this week, the same Bucharest court of appeals denied the Tate brothers' request to be released on bail. In previous rulings that extended their stay in police custody, judges have said the Tate brothers posed a flight risk and that their release could jeopardise the investigation. Prosecutors have said the Tate brothers recruited their alleged victims by seducing them and falsely claiming to want a relationship or marriage.

A video of Romanian tanks rolling along a street has been shared online accompanied by a false claim that it shows Romania’s army entering Moldova. “New footage of Romanian army entering Moldova,” said one Twitter user sharing the footage on Feb. 25 (here ). Gen. Constantin Spinu, the Romanian Ministry of National Defence (MoND) spokesperson, said that claims of Romania moving military equipment to the Moldovan border were false. The video was filmed in Alba Iulia, hundreds of kilometres away from Moldova, and the defence ministry says it was likely taken during rehearsals for Romania’s National Day.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has charged seven social media influencers with securities fraud, saying Wednesday that they were part of a $100 million scheme to use social media platforms Twitter and Discord, as well as podcasts, to manipulate the price of certain stocks. Discord is a private chatroom and messaging platform that is popular with gaming influencers and, more recently, financial influencers. According to the SEC, seven of the defendants promoted stocks to their hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers and in stock trading rooms on Discord since at least January 2020. They would then promote the stock to their followers and inflate the share price, announcing price targets and teasing upcoming news about the company. Those stocks are often ripe for manipulation because they receive less attention and have lower trading volumes.
