CNN —Wedding bells are ringing in the final season of Netflix’s “The Crown.”The streamer teased a big storyline for the Emmy-winning series on Monday, confirming that the 2005 wedding of then-Prince Charles to Camilla Parker-Bowles will be featured in the sixth and final season. Here’s a hint at what’s to come in our final season,” the caption on Netflix’s tweet on Monday read. Charles became King Charles III and ascended the throne in September 2022 after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning British monarch. As both had been previously married, Charles and Camilla wed in a small civil ceremony. I first got to know his music, and first sang his music, as a teenager at school in Scotland. His music is known among the singing community, the choral community, but maybe beyond that he’s not as well known as he should be. Classical music audiences tend to forget about the pre-Baroque, and it’s a pity because William Byrd is one of music history’s great figures. Another wonderful motet by Byrd is “Justorum animae,” which is basically a commemoration or a celebration of martyrs. I think Byrd and Tallis knew people who were arrested, and I think there were some composers for one reason or another during this time arrested.

London CNN —Britain was waking up Saturday to a once-in-a-generation royal event: the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in a grand ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London. While Charles became King on the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II in September last year, the coronation is the formal crowning of the monarch. In a ceremony that is expected to last at least two hours, Charles will be officially crowned, presented with an array ceremonial objects and be recognized as King by various representatives of the British state. Charles and Camilla will travel along the route to the abbey in a splendid coach drawn by six horses, accompanied by the Household Cavalry. Charles’ consort Camilla will also be crowned in a shorter, simpler part of the ceremony.

Many wives of a sitting monarch have often been titled as Queen, with the most recent example being Elizabeth II’s mother, Queen Elizabeth. But the first time we saw his wife titled as “Queen Camilla” was in the elaborate coronation invitations sent out to esteemed VIPs. “The coronation is an appropriate time to start using ‘Queen Camilla’ in an official capacity,” the royal source said.
