Cheating in India's medical entrance examCheating has, in particular, plagued India's highly competitive medical entrance exam, also known as the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET). "Question papers are sold at extravagantly high prices," Ashok Rathore, a police officer who investigated cheating linked to India's medical school exam, told the Journal. The person said they can provide next year's medical entrance exam questions for around 1 lakh rupees ($1,200). Those with money can still legally obtain places in private medical colleges if they pay fees ranging from $115,000 to $145,000. U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris speaks at her campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, on July 22, 2024. Vice President Kamala Harris is catching up to former President Donald Trump on the number of voters who trust her handling of the economy, according to a new Financial Times/Michigan Ross poll. The monthly survey found that 42% of voters trust Harris on economic issues, one percentage point more than the Republican presidential nominee. The most recent CNBC All-America Economic Survey, for example, found voters think they will be financially better off under Trump than Harris by a 2-to-1 margin. Trump often seizes on voters' economic pessimism as a political tactic, working to turn economic danger signs into narratives of full-blown catastrophe, attributable to the Biden-Harris administration's policies.

That includes the Jan. 6 and 2020 election interference case brought by special counsel Jack Smith. If Harris wins the election in November, Trump’s Jan. 6 case — though weakened by the Supreme Court — will continue to move toward trial. She is also likely to avoid much discussion of Trump’s handling of classified documents: While a Trump-appointed federal judge dismissed a federal case involving his alleged mishandling of classified documents, the Justice Department has appealed and the case could ultimately survive. While those rules are binding only on the Justice Department, part of Harris’ pitch to voters is that she would respect the lines between the Justice Department and the White House that have existed for decades, since the Watergate scandal. During the Biden administration, the Justice Department appointed another special counsel, a former Trump appointee, who secured the conviction of Biden’s son Hunter Biden on gun charges.

Harris’ campaign rallies are a clear change from those held by President Joe Biden, the man she is replacing at the top of the Democratic ticket. So hear me when I say: I know Donald Trump’s type.”But the Trump campaign is rushing to define Harris differently. “She knows this is going to be a very close race,” Julie Chávez Rodríguez, Harris’ campaign manager, said in an interview. Chávez Rodríguez and Harris have been close for nearly a decade, since Chávez Rodríguez first took a job as state director for Harris’ Senate office in 2016. The Harris campaign has launched a website advertising more than five dozen jobs.

CNN —The five days since Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign launched at warp speed have remade the 2024 race – and given Democrats new hope of preventing a second Donald Trump presidency. Fundraising exploded, with Harris’ campaign saying she raised $126 million between Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evening. And Democrats were more eager to devote their own time to working to elect Harris: More than 100,000 people signed up to volunteer for her bid, and more than 2,000 applied for campaign jobs, Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a Wednesday memo. The strength of Harris’ launch has at times surprised even the former Biden campaign staffers who on Sunday suddenly found themselves working for what was converted into the Harris campaign. Biden’s campaign believed his path to 270 Electoral College votes ran through the “blue wall” states – Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The prosecutor-versus-felon approach may appeal to undecided voters who had been sour on both Mr. Trump and President Biden. Mr. Trump, for his part, has been trying to soften some of his harshest rhetoric about seeking vengeance on his rivals ahead of the general election. In the case of Ms. Harris, the contempt is displayed both in public and private. Since then, Mr. Trump has attacked her savagely, particularly when she became Mr. Biden’s running mate in 2020. On Sunday, Mr. Trump, who has insisted he would debate Mr. Biden anytime and anywhere, appeared to try to change the terms of the second debate.

CNN —In the first full day of her presidential campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris swiftly earned enough delegates to secure the Democratic nomination and raised a historic $81 million. Before becoming the vice president, Harris had a decades-long career as a prosecutor and was elected to be San Francisco’s district attorney and later California’s attorney general. “Kamala Harris, who was a former district attorney, former attorney general, former United States senator and current vice president is a ‘DEI hire’ in their minds, just because she’s a Black woman,” he said. CNN —The final night of the Republican National Convention has kicked off in Milwaukee. Pompeo’s claim about the southern border under TrumpFormer Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed at the Republican National Convention Thursday that the US-Mexico border was “closed” during Donald Trump’s presidency. Facts First: This characterization of Trump’s tariffs is misleading. It’s true that Trump’s tariffs on China raised billions of dollars for the US government, but the duties were paid by US companies – not China. For example, Trump’s tariffs were imposed, in part, to boost the US manufacturing sector – but that industry lost jobs.

One possibility is the coding rounds of the typical tech job interview, where candidates are prompted by interviewers to solve technical problems. So, job candidates can easily use something like ChatGPT to effectively cheat their way to fast solutions, according to a recent experiment conducted by interviewing.io, a popular platform for mock tech interviews and industry recruiting. When coding problems were taken verbatim from LeetCode, job candidates using ChatGPT solved correctly 73% of the time, interviewing.io found. That’s far worse than how tech job candidates fare on their own. Relying on their own abilities, interviewing.io found that job candidates passed coding rounds of interviews 53% of the time.

Holding down multiple jobs has long been a backbreaking way for low-wage workers to get by. They freeze their employment histories with Equifax and hibernate their LinkedIn profiles, so employers can't see they're holding multiple jobs. Those with multiple jobs also seek out positions they hope will be OE-friendly — light on meetings, as well as on the workload. There's another incentive: Unlike most Americans, those who work multiple jobs don't have to worry about layoffs. There's something radical that happens to a worker's psychology when they have multiple jobs.

Step back far enough, and you can see exactly what is driving so much geopolitics today: Ukraine is trying to join the West. Or they would have agreed to Lend-Lease assistance for the allies only if President Franklin Roosevelt would eliminate the I.R.S. That’s why today America must help Israel and Ukraine to blunt the Russia-Iran axis in their theaters. But the morning after their wars, Israel and Ukraine are going to have to face some very hard choices. Because while we may write big checks to both today, they will not be blank checks.

Billionaires Mark Cuban and Michael Rubin are up for the challenge. "This is a real issue," said Rubin, the CEO of sports retailer Fanatics and a guest judge on the episode. "We want to help change the perception of bots amongst consumers," Griffith said. Arming consumers with bots could help give regular people a fighting chance to buy items at fair prices, he surmised. Should things go their way, the Astros might well be en route to their fifth World Series appearance in seven years, the first of these—2017—being the source of their infamy. “They’re going to get booed in perpetuity,” says one of the many insiders whom writer-podcaster Ben Reiter interviews during “The Astros Edge: Triumph and Scandal in Major League Baseball,” a “Frontline” presentation that autopsies the game’s darkest episode since the Black Sox threw the series in 1919.

On Dec. 9, 2021, at the inaugural Summit for Democracy, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen made a stunning admission: Her country had become the world’s most sought-after shelter for criminals’ money. “In the popular imagination,” she said, according to the prepared text for the virtual event, “the money-laundering capitals of the world are small countries with histories of loose and secretive financial laws. The good news: They’re slowly succeeding. New laws and rules, most of which were in the works before her speech, are stripping away veils of secrecy, making it easier to find and prosecute the bad guys.
