Luzerne County is one of many counties in Pennsylvania — and across the country — that shifted to the right this year. Kevin Kraynak, a Luzerne County native, traveled from his home in California to try to get out the vote. Luzerne County became a hotbed of election denialism in 2020, and Pennsylvania is an open-carry state. Just over 152,000 total ballots were cast in Luzerne County — about the same as in 2020. In only one other Pennsylvania county were Trump’s gains greater.

America PAC has been tasked with much of the pro-Trump canvassing operation as his campaign focuses its efforts on a more limited effort targeting so-called low-propensity voters. “I know it’s been flagged for America PAC that this has been transpiring,” an operative formerly on the effort said. Pennsylvania officials said Friday they are investigating as many as 2,500 fraudulent voter registration applications in Lancaster County that election workers flagged during routine reviews of the forms. She added that at least two other counties may have received fraudulent registration applications, too. Election officials notified law enforcement authorities of the issues they discovered while reviewing the voter registration forms and a wide-scale investigation was launched, prompting police to reach out to voters whose information was listed on the forms. After undergoing extensive review of registration applications, at least 60% of the forms that have been investigated so far have been determined to be fraudulent so far, Adams said. “I want to stress this, no eligible voter will be turned away.”The forms were all dropped off at or near the voter registration deadline, which was Oct. 21 in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state.

Musk, the world's richest man, has given nearly $75 million to America PAC, the super political action committee he created earlier this year largely to back Trump, new Federal Election Commission filings reveal. Nearly $72 million of that money has already been spent, the disclosure report shows. The PAC, which was formed in late May, reports having spent a total of $102 million on the presidential race so far, FEC filings show. Unlike most super PACs, however, America PAC is not spending its money to reserve expensive television air time to run ads. Disputes across the country are brewing over the role of local election boards and how much power they have to question – or even throw out – election results. In Georgia, for instance, Trump-backed members of the state election board recently passed controversial rules that could allow local election boards responsible for certifying results to conduct investigations that threaten to delay certification. One of the Georgia rules, the “Reasonable Inquiry Rule,” would allow election officials to conduct a “reasonable inquiry” before certifying election results. The petitioners in the case argue that the rule would give partisan board members a wide ability to cast doubt on, or even reject, election results. In some cases, the threat of legal action has been enough to deter officials from pursuing challenges to the certification process.
