The botulinum toxin can cause botulism, a rare but potentially fatal disease, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). “Snapchill is working on filing the appropriate notification with FDA,” the statement added. Snapchill distributed its products across the country through coffee roasters and retail outlets, as well as its own website. “Consumers should either destroy the products or return the product to Snapchill or the place of purchase for a refund,” the statement on the FDA’s website said.

But since the "Barbie" movie released in July, there has been an uptick in demand for use as a cosmetic procedure. Meanwhile, Revance and Evolus Inc (EOLS.O), which make similar toxins under the brand Daxxify and Jeuveau, respectively, told Reuters that though "Barbie Botox" has picked up in recent months, they do not see the trend significantly boosting sales. However, the doctors said they were concerned about a rise in use among younger women - and six doctors warned that procedures by underqualified staff at some medispas raised the risk of complications. Doctors also stressed the risk with administration by people who may not be properly qualified, especially at medispas where there is little oversight. "The science isn't quite there yet, in order to support the clinical profile of it," said Evolus CEO David Moatazedi.

CNN —Stiff person syndrome is a rare neurological condition that can take years to diagnose and tailor treatment. What is stiff person syndrome? The first case of stiff person syndrome was reported in the 1950s, according to Newsome, and the disease was historically referred to as “stiff man syndrome.”Since then, it has been found to affect twice as many women than men, and the name was changed to stiff person syndrome to avoid confusion. On average, it takes about seven years for someone to receive a diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, Newsome says. “Sometimes, [patients] get labeled crazy,” he said, “because on exam early on, there aren’t the hallmark features of stiff person syndrome.”How is stiff person syndrome treated?
