CNN —The bracket for 2024’s Fat Bear Week contest was revealed Tuesday night, but only after a deadly bear-on-bear attack at Alaska’s Katmai National Park and Preserve on Monday delayed the unveiling. In what’s become a bona fide fall ritual, public voting in the annual Fat Bear contest is scheduled to start at noon ET Wednesday. A preliminary contest for Fat Bear Junior has already been held, with Bear 909 Jr. taking the top spot. The central clash in the pivotal Senate race in Montana — and the fight for control of the Senate itself — was on full display Monday night as Democratic Sen. Jon Tester and Republican Tim Sheehy faced off in a heated debate. Like other vulnerable Senate Democrats, Tester tried to make it personal — touting his bipartisan bona fides, highlighting his own connections to his red-leaning state and suggesting his opponent cannot be trusted. Montana is the party’s next top target, with Tester running for re-election in a state Trump won by 16 points in 2020. James Richmond, 50, an IT consultant and voter in Helena, pointed to those comments in explaining why he plans to support Sheehy, despite supporting Tester’s work for veterans. The Federal Reserve's big interest rate cut this week has reintroduced the notion of the " Fed put " into the stock market, longtime bull Tom Lee said. That means, the Fed's mandate is now primarily supporting a strong labor market," Lee wrote to clients Friday. Broadly speaking, the "put" refers to the desire of the Fed to loosen financial conditions, which in turn supports risk assets like stocks. In particular, he cited "an important lifeline" to three sectors that Lee said actually are in a recession: durable goods, auto sales and housing. The influential Teamsters union on Wednesday declined to issue an endorsement in the presidential race, Megan Lebowitz and Alexandra Marquez report. Prior to the announcement, the Teamsters also released survey data showing more rank-and-file members preferred to endorse Trump than Harris. Still, Harris has won the endorsement of just about every other major labor union in the country (the International Association of Fire Fighters remains a notable holdout).
