Yet Tehran now has experience of Trump as someone willing to be wildly incautious and unafraid of international norms. Former President Donald Trump’s promises that he’ll win New York are more empty bluster than evidence-based prediction. Two statewide Siena polls have also shown Trump performing better than his 2020 vote share in New York State as a whole. But overall, these races include the most competitive around New York State, and all but the 18th are currently represented in Congress by a Republican. The record shows that Mr. Trump often pursues his stated goals, regardless of how plainly they lack legal or moral grounding. For this reason, Americans would be wise to see this language as a genuine threat, not simply Mr. Trump on a tangent. Why You Should Believe Him As president, Mr. Trump repeatedly sought to use the power of government to punish his political opponents. But rules can be rewritten, and Mr. Trump has made clear that he intends to pick officials who will take orders from the Oval Office. Following weeks of attacks targeting the historic hush money case against the former president, prominent right-wing media figures immediately flooded the public discourse Thursday with extreme and disturbing rhetoric after Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts. The toxic commentary is also enflaming desires of retribution held by Trump supporters, with popular right-wing media figures openly declaring their hope that the GOP candidate to nakedly seek revenge against his critics, should he emerge victorious in November and return to the Oval Office. Some of the right’s most popular talking heads are openly calling for the weaponization of government to seek retribution against Trump’s political opponents.
