The Israeli military distributed videos Monday evening that it said showed members of the Bibas family in the area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza on Oct. 7. The fate of the Bibas family has been murky. Israeli officials have not confirmed the claim. The Bibas family was taken from Kibbutz Nir Oz, a town along Israel’s border with Gaza where more than 70 of the roughly 240 hostages were seized. Israeli officials estimate that about 130 hostages remain in captivity, although at least 30 of those are thought to be dead.

Cadaver dogs are in Maui to help find the deceased

As Maui officials continue searching through the wreckage for the many who are still missing after wildfires tore through the island, they have a new tool at hand: human remains detection dogs, often called cadaver dogs. Human remains detection dogs are one of several kinds of working dogs trained to detect scents, like bomb or drug detection dogs. Search dogs are often dogs with a working heritage, like border collies or German shepherds. Lynne Engelbert, a human remains detection dog handler and teacher, told CNN the job requires a specific canine personality. Lisa Briggs, a forensic criminologist who specializes in the use of human remains detection dogs, told CNN not all human remains detection dogs have the same skills – and the dogs in Maui would need to be imprinted specifically on burnt remains in order to search effectively.

Saudi Arabia along with other energy-rich Gulf states has long provided crucial funding to Egypt, upping support after Sisi took power nearly a decade ago, and as an acute financial crisis took hold last year. "The mean, the scoundrels and the nouveau-riche have no right to insult their masters," he wrote, drawing on derogatory stereotypes and claims of historical superiority. Another well-known Saudi commentator, Ali Shihabi, later tweeted: "Egypt is a black hole that will never close unless the govt is able to make material structural reforms." Tawfik's article has been removed from Al Gomhuria's website and replaced by an editorial lauding Egyptian-Saudi relations as "historic and eternal". Efron will portray Kevin, the last surviving brother, opposite costars Lily James (“Pam & Tommy”) and “The Affair” star Maura Tierney, who will play his mother Doris. “The Iron Claw,” which does not yet have an official release date, comes from writer-director Sean Durkin, whose credits include the 2011 Elizabeth Olsen-starring “Martha Marcy May Marlene.”
CNN —It’s almost a year since marathon runner Gotytom Gebreslase last spoke to her parents over the phone, a detachment she feels most strongly during races. “My wish is to meet them soon – that would make me happy.”Gebreslase breaks the tape at the World Athletics Championships. Some reassurance over her parents’ safety arrived following Gebreslase’s victory at the world championships in July, when she came across a TV report featuring an interview with her mother. “The result I got in the world championships built my confidence,” she says. “When I started running, [my parents] didn’t discourage me, they were encouraging me – especially my mom,” says Gebreslase.
