Mr. Pommel Horse has had quite the week. Stephen Nedoroscik, dubbed "Pommel Horse Guy" by the internet, became an Olympic bronze medalist Monday, then a meme. He won bronze on the pommel horse, performing a more difficult routine than in the team final and scoring a 15.300. In the team final, Nedoroscik faced a grueling 2½-hour wait on the sidelines before he could perform his one routine, but the circumstances could not have been more cinematic. The internet was quick to dub him “the pommel horse guy," and likened him to Super Man's alter ego, Clark Kent.

Forest firefighters and others without self-contained breathing apparatuses were told to evacuate to the nearby town of Hinton, with structural firefighters staying behind. Searchers looking through the backcountry trails of Jasper National Park already had picked up 245 people, and they continued the search Wednesday in two helicopters, Ellsworth said. Residents and visitors streamed out by the thousands late Monday and Tuesday, and officials said Wednesday the evacuation of the town of Jasper was complete.

CNN —A winemaker in Italy has died while trying to save his colleague who had passed out in wine vat, according to Italy’s fire brigade. Authorities responded to the emergency call on Thursday at the Ca’di Rajo winery in San Polo di Piave, in the city of Treviso in northern Italy. According to the fire brigade, the man in his forties was trying to save his colleague who had fainted from carbon monoxide fumes while carrying out maintenance work. The two men were working in a processing tank that had just been emptied of wine for bottling when they were overcome by fumes from the fermentation process.
