The return of DCM activity signals that borrowers are gearing up for corporate dealmaking to return. Goldman's global head of financing broke down the trends in an interview with BI. On Wall Street, corporate borrowing is on a roll. Many of those clients are large companies or organizations being advised by Goldman's investment bankers, which means the DCM business is directly reliant on deal flow. CNN —United States envoy Amos Hochstein is due to visit Beirut “imminently” after Lebanon responded “positively” to a US-backed proposal to stop the Israel-Hezbollah war, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Monday. US ambassador to Lebanon Lisa Johnson relayed the proposal to the Lebanese government via Nabih Berri, the parliament speaker, on Thursday night, a Lebanese official told CNN earlier. According to the official, Hezbollah reviewed the proposal and submitted their response to Lebanese authorities on Sunday evening. The Israeli source added that Hochstein has not yet confirmed when he will arrive in the region. Another Lebanese source familiar with the ceasefire talks told CNN earlier that President-elect Trump has endorsed Hochstein’s ceasefire negotiations track, increasing the chances of its success.

New York CNN —McDonald’s is spending $100 million on marketing and to help franchises most heavily affected by a recent E. coli outbreak that has sickened more than 100 people and damaged sales. In a memo sent to employees and obtained by CNN, McDonald’s is spending $35 million on marketing, which includes a value deal focused on its chicken nuggets, plus $65 million directed toward franchisees that have lost business in states where the outbreak happened. Visits and sales took a nosedive in October after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration said that fresh slivered onions served on the Quarter Pounders were the likely source of an E. coli outbreak. More than 100 people got sick across 14 states and several lawsuits have been filed against the chain. McDonald’s has said recent tests showed no E. coli in its food, and in the memo noted its Quarter Pounder burgers topped with slivered onions are now back on menus nationwide.

Horton makes the most sense as a Kamala Harris stock because of a promised $25,000 toward a first home. I don't know if either candidate can pull off huge tariffs (Trump) or a credit (Harris). Here are eleven surprising things about this earnings season that you can store up and pull out when the election is confirmed. The deficit will begin to hurt the stock market hard next year even if the economy continues to cool. Away from the hyperscalers, I like Marvell , where CEO Matt Murphy bought $1 million worth of stock in the open market.

As Election Day approaches, the campaigns are putting significant time and attention toward courting Black men, seen as a crucial — and potentially movable — voting bloc in a tight presidential race. However, that number drops to 68% for Black men under 50, compared to 21% who support Trump. “It’s very important to not operate from the assumption that Black men are in anybody’s pocket,” she said during an interview with the National Association of Black Journalists in September. For Trump’s part, efforts to reach Black men voters through campaign surrogates or Trump himself have lessened in recent months. Bartell also pointed to Kevin Cooper, a Black man on death row for killing a white family, as well as marijuana convictions of Black men.

CNN —Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, believed to be one of the architects of the militant group’s October 7, 2023, terror attack and Israel’s most wanted man, was killed in Gaza on Wednesday, according to the Israeli military. He was also viewed as a pragmatic political leader by some: In 2017, Hamas elected Sinwar as the political chief of its main decision-making body, the Politburo, in Gaza. At one of the protests, Sinwar applauded those facing “the enemy who besieges us.”As the group’s political leader, Sinwar focused on the group’s foreign relationships, forging important ties with regional Arab powers. A week's worth of inflation data showed that price pressures have eased substantially since their meteoric rise in 2021-22. "We got two more months of good inflation data" since the last Fed meeting, Claudia Sahm, chief economist for New Century Advisors, said in a CNBC interview Friday. Futures markets for most of the past week had lasered in on a quarter percentage point, or 25 basis point, rate cut. The inflation data "on its own would have gotten us 25 next week, as it should, and will get us a whole string of cuts after that," she said. [Fed officials] need to kind of clean it up, do a 50 basis point cut and then be ready to do more."

Boeing's crew spacecraft Starliner will stay docked with the International Space Station into August, NASA confirmed on Thursday, as the mission remains on hold while the company and agency study problems that arose early in the flight. Starliner capsule "Calypso," which carried NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams to the ISS, has now been in space 50 days and counting. NASA needs to conduct a review that won't happen until the first week of August, Stich said, and only after that review will the agency schedule Starliner's return. Currently, the organizations are analyzing the thruster that was tested in White Sands and this weekend expect to have the Starliner capsule conduct test firings while docked with the ISS. Stich acknowledged again that NASA has contingency plans in case the agency determines that Starliner should return without Wilmore and Williams — alternatives that include using SpaceX's Dragon capsule to bring back NASA's astronauts.

That said, my husband and I moved our family from Brooklyn to Maine to spend more time outside. We spent a long weekend at a camping ground in southern Maine, and the kids absolutely loved it. They are already asking to go camping again, and I'm wondering why we didn't do this earlier in their lives. There was a huge playset for little kids and all kinds of games, such as ping pong, foosball, and petanque. We went in late May, which is still low season for Maine, and the pond was packed with people.
