CNN —The fictional romance between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) on Netflix’s “Bridgerton” continues to be the talk of TV, but not all of the discussion has pleased viewers. As celebrated as the pair is, Tovar’s article acknowledges the problematic discussion the characters’ romantic relationship has spurred. “For some, this romance is unsettling because it forces them to consider that humans are simply not governed by tidy, predictable rules,” Tovar writes. “There’s one scene where I’m very naked on camera, and that was my idea, my choice,” Coughlan added at the time. It just felt like the biggest ‘f—k you’ to all the conversation surrounding my body; it was amazingly empowering.”
