In the suit, Ziada sought unspecified damages against Gantz under Dutch universal jurisdiction rules, which allows countries to prosecute serious offences committed elsewhere. Sixty-seven Israeli soldiers and six civilians in Israel also died, according to Israeli military and health officials.
