CNN —Timothée Chalamet has shared a story that makes clear women in Hollywood aren’t the only ones being judged for their physical appearances. The “Dune” star talked to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about his experience early in his career. “If I auditioned for ‘The Maze Runner’ or ‘Divergent,’ things of that variety that were popping when I was coming up, the feedback was always, ‘Oh, you don’t have the right body,’” Chalamet said. “Those were smaller budget, but very — I don’t know how else to put it — personable movies that started in this theater space,” he said. “This is where I found my rhythm, my confidence, my flow, whatever you want to call it.”“A Complete Unknown” hits theaters on Christmas Day.

Liam Payne's One Direction bandmates are "completely devastated" by his death, they said in a statement on the boy band's Instagram account Thursday, one day after Payne's death at an Argentina hotel. Sistema de Atencion Medica de Emergencia (SAME), the emergency health service, said that Payne fell from the balcony in Palermo. Police were called to the hotel for reports of an aggressive man, according to the emergency services agency, which later confirmed Payne's death. The office added that the autopsy findings indicate Payne "could have fallen in a state of semi or total unconsciousness." A number of substances were found in Payne's hotel room, the prosecutor's office said in a statement, which would prove alcohol and drug consumption.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, the band’s front man, Chris Martin, confirmed that the seven-time Grammy Award-winning group will retire after the release of its 12th studio album. “We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that’s real,” Martin told Lowe. There’s only 12 ½ Beatles' albums, there’s about the same for Bob Marley, so all our heroes,” Martin explained to Lowe. Despite its cheeky title, Sabrina Carpenter's new album "Short n' Sweet" arrived on Friday with a tall order to fill. Carpenter's sixth album was preceded by smash hits "Espresso" and "Please Please Please," which peaked at No. But "Short n' Sweet" isn't just Carpenter's most anticipated release to date. AdvertisementIndeed, throughout "Short n' Sweet," Carpenter isn't coy about the vulgar, demoralizing underbelly of modern dating. Subscription revenue growth grew 17%. With respect to guidance, Workday is now looking for an adjusted operating margin of 25.25% in the 2025 fiscal year, compared with the 25% forecast it provided in May. In September 2023, Workday said it was targeting a 25% adjusted operating margin for fiscal year 2027 and subscription revenue growth between 17% and 19%. Deutsche Bank analysts led by Brad Zelnick increased their 12-month price target on Workday stock to $275 from $265. "The increased 30% operating margin target was the big upside surprise as it is now committed both sooner and greater than most were expecting," the analysts wrote.

And they were everywhere, although, naturally, New York City was a magnet, as it has always been for L.G.B.T.Q.+ people looking for a place in which they can be themselves. New York City was where you lost your soul, and we wanted to be closer to the earth. I wore an eight-and-a-half-foot-tall Statue of Liberty costume to the Easter Parade in New York City, and Kirsten came along with me. By the time I turned 30, I’d been telling people I was older for years, because I’m not the type to bemoan the loss of my youth. Going to New York felt like this moment of emerging to a wider audience, and then I started to travel a lot.

Workday cuts full-year subscription revenue forecast

Human resources software provider Workday cut its annual subscription revenue forecast on Thursday, citing concerns about lower customer headcount growth as a hiring slowdown and IT budget cuts soften demand for its payroll services. The company sees subscription revenue for fiscal year 2025 in the range of $7.70 billion to $7.73 billion, down from its prior forecast of $7.73 billion to $7.78 billion. "Our updated subscription revenue guidance reflects the elevated sales scrutiny and lower customer headcount growth we experienced during the quarter," said Workday CFO Zane Rowe. For the second quarter, Workday expects subscription revenue of about $1.90 billion, nearly in line with analyst estimates, according to LSEG data. Subscription revenue rose 18.8% to $1.82 billion in the quarter.

The court ruled unanimously that officials can be deemed "state actors" when making use of social media and can therefore face litigation if they block or mute a member of the public. The court held that conduct on social media can be viewed as a state action when the official in question "possessed actual authority to speak on the state's behalf" and "purported to exercise that authority." While the officials in both cases have low profiles, the ruling will apply to all public officials who use social media to engage with the public. The cases raised the question of whether public officials' posts and other social media activity constitute part of their governmental functions. The court is wrestling with a whole series of social media-related free speech issues in its current term, which runs until June.

Chile chasing Pan Am Games soccer golden double

SANTIAGO, Nov 1 (Reuters) - It was a deja vu double celebration for Chile at the Pan American Games on Wednesday as Martina Weil powered to women's 400 metre gold and the men's soccer team took a 1-0 win from the United States. The gold on back-to-back nights at the Estadio Nacional, where the 1962 World Cup final was played, were joyous achievements but it is a double opportunity at soccer gold that really has Chilean hearts pounding. The Chilean men have never won Pan Am Games gold and only once before, in 1987, appeared in the final losing to Brazil while the women have never before got to the semi-finals. Andrea Vargas gave Costa Rica their first gold of the Games successfully defending her 2019 Pan Am title in the 100m hurdles while Brazil's Eduardo Rodrigues won the men's. Led by double Olympic champion McLain Ward the U.S. won the equestrian team jumping gold ahead of Canada and Brazil.

The Authority of Law statue is seen outside the U.S. Supreme Court at the start of the new term in Washington, U.S., October 2, 2023. The Supreme Court is tasked with deciding whether the public officials engaged in a "state action" in blocking critics from social media accounts or were merely acting in their personal capacity. The justices also are due to decide other important cases involving speech on social media during their current nine-month term. One involves a challenge to Republican-backed state laws limiting the ability of social media platforms to remove or moderate content deemed objectionable or misinformation. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed, ruling that Zane and O'Connor-Ratcliff had presented their social media accounts as "channels of communication with the public" about school board business.

Blocking users is a function often employed on social media to stifle critics. The justices, hearing about three hours of arguments, focused on spelling out the circumstances for deciding whether public officials were acting in their personal capacity when blocking critics or engaged in a "state action." Conservative Justice Samuel Alito cited a hypothetical town manager who puts a municipal seal on his own social media page and tells citizens to express their views. Under this test, Mooppan argued, the social media activity of his clients was not governmental. Some justices asked whether requiring public officials to include disclaimers on their personal pages making clear their social media activity is not governmental would help disentangle their private and public capacities.
