If it's any solace, the company was not really for Wall Street, either; its stock has been languishing over the past decade or so. Investors are eating it up: Abercrombie's stock a year ago, your returns would be better than that of almost any other stock, including the Wall Street darling Nvidia. "Can you and I think of another apparel retailer who literally reinvented themselves and then went to the moon with sales and earnings? When its longtime CEO exited the company at the end of 2014, its sales had declined for 11 consecutive quarters. July 24 (Reuters) - The fanfare around Margot Robbie-starrer "Barbie" could jolt the iconic Mattel (MAT.O) doll's sales out of a year-long slump, but Wall Street thinks the party in pink will be short-lived. While Mattel will report second-quarter results on Wednesday, days after the theatrical release of the movie, analysts say the boost for Barbie sales will be most pronounced in the quarter ending Sept. 29 before tapering off. Retailers worldwide have also pitched in, with brands from Zara (ITX.MC) to H&M (HMb.ST) and Gap rolling out themed merchandise like Barbie hoodies, perfumes and toothbrushes. But its gross billings - or the amount invoiced to customers - fell behind Hot Wheels in the first quarter of 2023. Mattel's forward 12-month price-to-earnings multiple (P/E), a common benchmark for valuing stocks, is 16.01, higher than 13.6 for Hasbro.

March 1 (Reuters) - American Eagle Outfitters (AEO.N) on Wednesday beat fourth-quarter market estimates, as consumers heading back to work and social events snapped up apparel and accessories despite persistently high inflation. Shares of American Eagle jumped about 7% in extended trading as the company also reinstated a $0.10 per share quarterly cash dividend after pausing it in September. Even as the United States faces once-in-a-generation levels of inflation, demand for sportswear, dresses and cargo pants have remained steady, benefiting apparel makers like American Eagle that have offered higher discounts to shoppers in order to get rid of excess stock. In January, the American Eagle said that its fourth-quarter sales and profit margins were tracking at high end of its forecasts, benefiting from its decision to right-size inventories and a better-than-expected performance at its American Eagle label. Excluding items, American Eagle earned 37 cents per share, above estimates of 30 cents.

Nov 2 (Reuters) - Luxury parka maker Canada Goose Holdings Inc (GOOS.TO), cut its full-year revenue and profit forecast on Wednesday, with persistent COVID-related lockdowns and store closures in China hurting its business. The company did not disclose how much revenue it specifically earns from China, but said 20.3% of the revenue in the second quarter came from the Asia-Pacific region. Canada Goose cut its fiscal 2023 sales expectation to C$1.2 billion ($882.74 million)-C$1.3 billion, from C$1.3 billion-C$1.4 billion. The company earned second-quarter adjusted profit of 22 Canadian cents, on a revenue of C$277.2 million, beating analysts' estimates per Refinitiv data. Shares of the California-based toymaker fell about 4% in extended trade, after it also missed quarterly sales estimates for the first time since March 2020. Earlier this month, Hasbro Inc (HAS.O) tempered its full-year revenue outlook and warned that demand was starting to slip ahead of the festive season. Mattel, meanwhile, expects demand to accelerate during the crucial holiday shopping season, but said it would conduct more promotions to remain competitive. Kreiz said in an earnings call Mattel has not seen any "meaningful impact" on consumer demand for its toys from the price increases it has undertaken.
