CNN —Oman’s capital of Muscat is set to get an expansive $1.3 billion waterfront development, designed by globally renowned Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA). The 3.3 million square-meter Al Khuwair Muscat Downtown and Waterfront development will include a residential complex, a marina, a cultural district, numerous canal walkways and a ministerial campus. ZHA’s associate director, architect Paolo Zilli, told CNN he spent around a year finalizing the model he presented to Oman’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning. In Muscat, the population is projected to increase from 1.5 million to 2.7 million by that year. “There are a lot of changes,” Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed bin Mubarak al-Shueili, Oman’s Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, told CNN.

New York’s Peking duck enthusiasts have had reason to be on edge lately. The restaurant is expected to survive, but it probably won’t reopen until this summer. The fire followed the Covid closings, when Peking duck — almost the definition of a restaurant dish — was impossible to find. And while it is nice to have a new place to eat zha jiang mian and jiaozi, not to mention cumin lamb and crab-flavored fish, the most impressive item on the menu is the Peking duck. I don’t know another restaurant in the city that clears the classic Peking duck hurdles — all the fine points of roasting, carving and serving — so consistently and satisfyingly.

Solutions for problems with the batteries have been found through work in the booming electric car market, their study says. China has the world's largest conventional submarine fleet, with an estimated 60 to 70 vessels. The main purpose of China's conventional submarine fleet is to protect its coastal areas and strategic waters including the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea.
