Howard Buffett, a businessman and philanthropist, speaks during an interview with Reuters, amid Russia's attack on Ukraine, in Kyiv, Ukraine September 20, 2023. REUTERS/Yurii Kovalenko Acquire Licensing RightsKYIV, Sept 20 (Reuters) - U.S. businessman and philanthropist Howard Buffett said on Wednesday Western public interest in the war in Ukraine could wane in the coming year, and that he may step up his own support for Ukraine to set an example. Buffett said the idea that Ukraine "fatigue" could set in among the public in the West showed that Kyiv's allies should double down on their support. I think the U.S. and Europe have to step up even more and help Ukraine win this war and put it to end." In some Eastern European states there are signs of more critical views over the extent of foreign military support for Ukraine, and anger among farmers who say Ukrainian food imports hurt their prices.

REUTERS/Valentyn OgirenkoKYIV, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Workers installed Ukraine's national trident on an iconic monument depicting the Motherland in Kyiv on Sunday, replacing old Soviet symbols in one of the most visible examples of breaking away from the past and Moscow's influence. Originally, the shield bore the Soviet Union's coat of arms - a crossed hammer and sickle surrounded by ears of wheat. Kyiv says the invasion appears to be an imperial mission to recreate the Soviet Union. Ukraine outlawed Soviet symbols in 2015, the year after Russia annexed Crimea and backed separatist proxies in the country’s east.

REUTERS/Nacho DoceKYIV, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited Kyiv on a surprise trip on Sunday, meeting President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and pledging that Britain would "stick by Ukraine as long as it takes". "I can tell you that the UK will be sticking by Ukraine for as long as it takes," Johnson told the mayor of Bucha. The tens of thousands of women in Ukraine's armed forces have long had to make do with men's uniforms. That is now changing, thanks to volunteers who have started designing military clothing for women. You can't loosen up uniforms in the armed forces," Mykytenko, 27, told Reuters. Mykytenko joined the armed forces long before Russia's Feb. 24 invasion. "We had long thought about designing female military uniforms but didn't have anywhere to do it," he said.
