Here are five takeaways on the voters Trump won and what it means moving forward:The Latino realignmentA trend with the potential to remake the American political landscape is the huge shift in Latino voters toward Trump. Trump’s 1.5-point win in Osceola County flipped a location that President Joe Biden won by 14 points four years earlier. Trump’s performance similarly improved in Orange County, home of Orlando, where Biden won by 23 points in 2020 but Harris won by just 5.6 points this year. Trump’s gains are explained in part by his appeals to Black men, and his efforts to reach out to Arab American voters. Harris won by 10 points and 85,000 votes — short of the 14-point, 114,000-vote win Biden had notched there in 2020.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is launching a blitz in Arizona this week, with plans to swamp the battleground state with events and canvassing efforts, all timed around the start of early voting. “All of that, to me, is the type of activity that’s required to win a close race. Campaign officials also say to expect Harris to time events around early voting in many of the battleground states. The campaign push beginning Friday will take the first lady out west to Arizona and Nevada and through the “blue wall” states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. The Harris team is deploying the first lady to smaller, targeted markets to court undecided voters and to city suburbs as they look to mobilize women voters with less than a month until the election, the source said. Her deployments on behalf of Harris are similar to how she was utilized during her husband’s campaign and for Democrats in the 2022 midterms. Harris’ campaign believes there is a fair amount of undecided voters in areas like Yuma, Carson City and Reno that the first lady can try to reach. Read more about the first lady’s campaign swing.

Rising U.S.-China tensions have sent Chinese companies the signal that regardless of who wins the White House, overseas investment is the way to go. Chinese companies' interest in expanding overseas has accelerated since the pandemic as growth slowed domestically. "Top sectors that received Chinese investment have shifted from tertiary to manufacturing industries," the report said. "Interestingly, while Chinese companies have become more active in expanding business in ASEAN countries, they tend to maintain their presence in the West, suggesting the 'ASEAN+1' strategy may have increased." Even in the U.S, where new investment from China has fallen sharply, the report said that "Chinese companies have not materially withdrawn from the US market either."

New York CNN —Red Lobster wants to close several dozen more restaurants following its bankruptcy, and it has identified which ones are in danger of shutting down if the court approves its plan. The chain, which brought affordable shrimp and lobster to middle-class America and grew to become the largest seafood restaurant chain in the world, filed for bankruptcy last month. Red Lobster said that it had more than $1 billion in debt and less than $30 million in cash on hand. Part of its plan is to close some locations of its nearly 600 restaurants in the meantime. Read previewThe Marine Corps wants to field better counter-drone capabilities yesterday. Since that is not possible, the service says it's looking to get them to Marines right now, or at least very soon. Over the last five years, the Marine Corps has been improving its counter-drone systems as it looks to reshape the force and compete with near-peer adversaries. US Marines observed targets during a counter-unmanned aircraft system (UAS) range on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. That challenge has only grown, according to officials Tuesday, and the need for the Marine Corps to thwart it is critical.

Upholding that proud tradition, President Joe Biden is headed to the border on Thursday — and so is former President Donald Trump. I’m a lifelong resident of Arizona, and border-state voters have heard a lot of talk, but haven’t seen much action. The president’s only other visit to the border was a year ago, briefly stopping in El Paso before racing back home. This would at least mitigate Biden’s polling drop while also giving border states and blue cities a respite from the migrant influx. They’re done with photo-ops next to broken border walls and other campaign stunts.

A line of trucks and campers, cars and vans — from South Dakota and North Carolina, Washington and Pennsylvania — snaked over farm roads on Saturday before gathering on the winter-brown grass of a ranch, steps from the Rio Grande, in the rural community of Quemado, Texas. The gathering marked the final stop of a days-long journey: a convoy of conservative Americans who drove to the border to demonstrate their frustration, fear and anger over what they saw as a broken immigration system. The location in Quemado had been chosen for its proximity to the city of Eagle Pass, a flashpoint in the pitched confrontation over border security and immigration between the Biden administration and Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas. Other convoys this week reached the border in Yuma, Ariz., and San Ysidro, Calif., all with the goal of spurring tighter controls on migrants crossing the border.

That raises questions for the US military about whether towed guns can stay ahead of the enemy.
