Dick's Sporting Goods has something unusual for a retailer: an app to manage youth team sports. The service now boasts 5 million users who spend a half hour per day on the platform. Dick's says the business will bring in $100 million this year, in addition to driving retail sales. Now, the aptly named Game Changer platform is driving real revenue with some notable engagement, Dick's CEO Lauren Hobart told investors on the company's earnings call Wednesday. Hobart said last quarter saw 5 million users who spent a half hour per day on the platform, and Game Changer says it supports over a million teams and over 7 million games per year.

"I'm on top of the world right now, It's a huge deal to break a world record," Robinett told the BBC. "I couldn't have done it without the support of my family and the team at Poole Runners." Poole Runners said Robinett's record had raised the bar for youth athletes. "Improved diet quality and increased organized sports and reading were associated with improved cognition," the neuroscientists wrote. One particular part of the study's findings stands out: the suggestion that structured physical activity, like organized sports, can improve kids' cognitive skills. The finding builds on past research, which showed a clear link between increased physical activity and improved brain function, including memory and learning ability. Team sports especially offer a mental health boost by blending physical activity with social development. Still, experts often recommend a healthy mix of structured and unstructured play for children: The former can provide more targeted learning, while the latter can help foster creativity and self-motivation.

Voters appear to be persuadable on some of those issues, the poll showed, while they are finding fault with Republicans for their efforts to restrict abortion. Republicans were solidly against teaching gender issues in public schools, with 76% opposed, 20% in favor and the rest unsure.
