The University of Mobile is mourning the sudden death of freshman basketball player Kaiden Francis this week. Francis, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, collapsed on campus Tuesday morning and died, university President Charles Smith said in a letter to students and faculty. The job market could be poised for a fresh wave of people quitting, according to a new Glassdoor report. Employees' satisfaction in their career opportunities has been on the decline since 2022 after people settled into new roles following the post-pandemic hiring boom known as the Great Resignation. "People don't feel like the job market is working for them right now, even if you hear economists and policymakers talk about how strong and resilient the job market is," Glassdoor senior economist Daniel Zhao tells CNBC Make It. "The desire [to quit] is there, but the opportunities aren't," Zhao says. For example, some sectors, like housing, real estate and tech, could be buoyed by the Federal Reserve's interest rate cuts, Zhao says.

Canadian uranium miner Cameco Corporation is well positioned for growth on rising demand for nuclear power in the U.S. and less exposure to global geopolitical risk, according to Goldman Sachs. CCJ YTD mountain Cameco, YTD Cameco is integrated across uranium mining, conversion and fabrication as well nuclear services through its stake in Westinghouse, Mehta wrote. Cameco is also an attractive partner for Western utilities because the company has relatively low geopolitical risk. This puts the uranium price midpoint at around $100 which is well above current spot levels of about $80 per pound, according to Goldman. Cameco is still working through the financial impact of its Westinghouse acquisition, but the miner sees a 6% to 10% growth rate over the next five years for the nuclear services company.

Nick Begich III, the Republican son of a prominent liberal political family in Alaska, has defeated Representative Mary Peltola to win the state’s sole House seat, according to The Associated Press, ousting one of the nation’s most vulnerable Democrats and adding to Republicans’ slim House majority. This time, Mr. Begich benefited from a G.O.P. Ms. Peltola, the first Alaska Native elected to Congress, staked her campaign on her working-class appeal and presented herself as a solutions-focused pragmatist fighting for the state’s future. Before Ms. Peltola, the last Democrat to represent Alaska in the House was Nick Begich Sr., Mr. Begich’s grandfather. Former Young aides called Mr. Begich deceitful and disloyal to their boss and chose to back Ms. Peltola instead.
