Voyager 1 is now using a radio transmitter it hasn’t relied on since 1981 to stay in contact with its team on Earth while engineers work to understand what went wrong. NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft is depicted in this artist's concept traveling through interstellar space, or the space between stars, which it entered in 2012. Voyager 1 has been using one of its two radio transmitters, called an X-band based on the frequency it utilizes, for decades. In the meantime, engineers sent a message to Voyager 1 on October 22 to check that the S-band transmitter was working and received confirmation on October 24. “The S-band signal is too weak to use long term,” Waggoner said.

Lulls on work email were filled by push notifications from the New Yorker about an article I'd never have time to read, or "news" from Facebook. During those eight months, for the first time, I experimented with new work approaches and established guidelines to protect my time. On weekdays, I didn't check my email until I arrived at work and only once after I left. This was most apparent during a presentation I gave on behalf of a client to the Department of Justice that August. When doing a similar presentation months earlier, I'd canceled weekend plans and worked late nights to prepare.

The Jamie Dimon manifesto

The 2023 shareholder letter from JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon is chock full of policy ideas. Jamie Dimon, the billionaire CEO of JPMorgan Chase, outlined some of the biggest issues facing the company, the country, and the world in his 2023 annual shareholder letter. But he says that the US needs to flex its other muscles of power — economic policy, diplomacy, and intelligence — beyond military strength. Dimon points to the growth in wage inequality, saying that "wrong" policy falls disproportionately on the backs of lower-earning Americans. Dimon previously said that taxes on the wealthy could help offset the costs of bolstering the EITC.

The CEO of the Anti-Defamation League has called Elon Musk's behavior "deeply irresponsible." He remarked that Musk's "behavior is not just alarming nor reckless," but that "it is flat out dangerous and deeply irresponsible." Musk added that X's US advertising revenue has declined by 60%, saying this was "primarily due to pressure on advertisers by ADL." It has recorded increased hate speech on the platform since Musk's $44 billion takeover in October 2022. He responded to a post by YouTube streamer Keith Woods — previously accused by ADL of spreading antisemitic content — saying "ADL has tried very hard to strangle X/Twitter."

This elation has lulled Wall Street into a false sense of security, according to the investing world's elite who I've spoken with over the past few weeks. It's like all the good little boys and girls on Wall Street asked for a rally for Christmas and got it. He added that nonprofessional retail investors' strong return to the market indicated an unsustainable rally. Anytime Wall Street has forgotten that over the past year, it has gotten punished. And that means Wall Street will eventually have to open its eyes, take its fingers out of its ears, and watch this bear-market rally fall apart.
In addition to Italy, over the last five years, Cook has worked in Kenya, Thailand, and 12 other countries. At the time, startups were the only type of company I found that were open to fully remote work. When I started doing this in 2018, remote working like this wasn't as common as it is now. Now, since more people have access to this life because of remote work, a number of companies have cropped up for this exact kind of thing. IZYUM, Ukraine — The stench of death hangs over a small forest in northeastern Ukraine. Already, hundreds of bodies have been retrieved, including those of children, Ukrainian forensic technicians here say. Some of the graves bear wooden crosses, inscribed with the names of the dead and sometimes floral tributes. A forensic technician closes a body bag in a forest on the outskirts of Izyum, Ukraine, on Friday. During a video address late Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said investigators had discovered new evidence of torture.
