☆ Israel women's Nations League home games moved to Armenia and Hungary

Nov 9 (Reuters) - Israel's home games in the Women's Nations League which were to be played in Tel Aviv in December have been moved to Armenia and Hungary, Europe's soccer governing body UEFA said on Thursday. Israel were due to host Armenia and Estonia next month but due to the Israel-Hamas conflict, the matches have been moved. Israel will now play Armenia on Dec. 2 in Yerevan, Armenia, while the game against Estonia will be played three days later in Felcsut, Hungary. UEFA added that both games will be played with spectators in attendance. Last month, UEFA moved two of the men's upcoming Euro 2024 qualifying games against Switzerland and Romania to Hungary.

MADRID (AP) — With Jenni Hermoso back in the squad following the kiss controversy at the World Cup, Spain’s women’s players hope to start talking more about soccer than the off-the-field problems that marred their title celebrations. Olga Carmona, one of the team’s captains, said Tuesday the players are happy again on the national team and want to focus on securing a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics. They joined the team anyway because Spanish sports law states that athletes are obligated to report to national teams. “The agreement takes us a lot closer to improving women’s soccer,” she said. Spain won 3-2 at Sweden and 5-0 against Switzerland in its first two matches after the World Cup.

Sept 27 (Reuters) - England captain Millie Bright said not having VAR available for their Women's Nations League game against the Netherlands in Utrecht on Tuesday was "mind-blowing" after TV replays suggested the hosts' first goal in their 2-1 victory was offside. Substitute Renate Jansen scored a 90th-minute winner for the Dutch after Alessia Russo cancelled out Lieke Martens' first-half opener. "This is international football and we do not have VAR in a competitive international game, which is mind-blowing." Wiegman said it was "obvious" that the Dutch opener was offside and echoed Bright's calls for consistency in the use of VAR. The result left England third in their four-team Nations League group with three points from two games, a point behind leaders Belgium, who drew 1-1 with Scotland.

The decision was reached around 5 a.m. (0300 GMT) after more than seven hours of meetings at a hotel in Oliva, an hour from Valencia, involving the players, RFEF officials, the National Sports Council (CSD) and the women's players' union FUTPRO. "A joint commission will be created between RFEF, CSD and players to follow up on the agreements, which will be signed tomorrow," CSD President Victor Francos told reporters. "The players have expressed their concern about the need for profound changes in the RFEF, which has committed to making these changes immediately." The revolt by the players was triggered after former RFEF chief Rubiales kissed forward Hermoso on the lips following Spain's World Cup victory. "The former president of the Spanish soccer federation has done what he had to do," Spain's Secretary of State for Sport Víctor Francos told Spain's Cadena SER radio. Rubiales said that he had told interim Spanish federation president Pedro Rocha — who replaced him when Rubiales was suspended on Aug. 26 — of his resignation late Sunday night.
