ESPN’s star NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski is retiring from the company, according to a post from his X account Wednesday morning. The longtime sports reporter will take a job at St. Bonaventure, his alma mater, and become the general manager of its men’s basketball program, the university said. Wojnarowski often broke big news in the NBA world, so frequently that his breaking news reports on player transactions became colloquially known as “Woj bombs.” He and The Athletic’s Shams Charania often competed for scoops on the latest news. “I’ve known and admired Woj since we first worked together at Yahoo! His work ethic is second to none,” ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro said in a statement.

CNN —LeBron James has reportedly signed a two-year, $104 million maximum contract to return to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The deal reportedly includes a player option for the 2025-26 season, giving James, 39, control over his future after next season. James, a four-time NBA MVP, also tops the all-time playoff scoring leaderboard with 8,162 points. Last season, he also became the first player to be selected for 20 All-Star appearances, surpassing the record he had jointly held with Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The Lakers were then eliminated in the first round by the Denver Nuggets, losing the series 4-1.

CNN —Kyrie Irving, the Brooklyn Nets star who was suspended for at least five games by the team for comments made after sharing a link to an antisemitic movie on social media, has issued another apology as his possible return from suspension nears. Putting some type of threat, or assumed threat, on the Jewish community,” Irving told SNY. Irving reiterated he is not “anti-Jewish” and apologized to the Jewish community. Thursday’s matchup in Portland against the Trail Blazers will mark two weeks since the Nets announced it was suspending Irving, saying at the time “he is currently unfit to be associated with the Brooklyn Nets.” The team has not said when Irving’s suspension could end. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, citing sources, Irving could return as soon as Sunday, when Brooklyn plays at home against the Memphis Grizzlies. CNN reached out to the Nets on Wednesday evening for comment but did not immediately hear back. “He’s someone I’ve known for a decade, and I’ve never heard an antisemitic word from him or, frankly, hate directed at any group,” Silver said.
