The Cleveland Browns pulled off a massive upset Sunday, defeating the Baltimore Ravens 29-24 behind a stellar performance from quarterback Jameis Winston. The Browns entered Week 8 with a 1-6 record, with quarterback Deshaun Watson last in the league in quarterback rating. And he responded by outdueling Ravens quarterback and MVP candidate Lamar Jackson, who had led his team to five straight wins before Sunday. Since he joined Cleveland in 2022, Watson has never thrown for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in the same game. The Browns improved to 2-6 with the victory, their first since they beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 18-13 in Week 2.

The Eagles are healthier at receiver, have a terrific ground game and they’re improving on defense. AdvertisementNguyen: Getting two new coordinators takes some getting used to, but the Eagles look more comfortable both offensively and defensively. Defensively, Vic Fangio’s system is a hard one to learn but the Eagles now look like they’re playing a lot faster. Since the third week of the season, opponents are averaging just 12.8 points per game against Fangio’s defense. Nguyen: Before this week, the Titans were playing like an elite defense but their offense was letting them down.

“Rhythm and blues and country music are the most parallel types of music,” Singleton has been quoted as saying. “Country music tells a story,” Martell told Rolling Stone. And while Martell recalls receiving two standing ovations that night, the road to country music success was far from smooth. A place in historyMartell’s story may have languished in history were it not for both her country music family and her biological one. “Minority, women and marginalized artists deserve to play on a level playing field in the country music industry,” Thompson told The Tennessean last year.

Photo: EVELYN HOCKSTEIN/REUTERSClifford Winston’s op-ed “UAW Strike May Hasten Detroit’s Decline” (Sept. 22) says little about the United Auto Workers’ role in shrinking the domestic auto industry by half over the past 40 years. My employer, Ford, employed around 400,000 in its heyday. The loss of workforce and closing of plants were due to the UAW’s contract agreements and restrictive work rules, agreed to by the company under duress. These helped make Detroit uncompetitive.

A ‘UAW On Strike’ sign held on a picket line in Burton, Mich., Sept. 25. Photo: Emily Elconin/Bloomberg NewsClifford Winston’s op-ed “UAW Strike May Hasten Detroit’s Decline” (op-ed, Sept. 22) is further evidence that energy-transition advocates want to change your behavior. He proffers “an efficient vehicle-miles-traveled tax,” wherein the government could “reduce driving, especially during peak periods,” as a more efficient means to cut emissions. This would require the government to track vehicles and tax their owners for driving at the wrong time or place and for fueling or charging your soon-to-be-mandated EV at the wrong time.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Jordan Travis threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Keon Coleman to start overtime and No. 4 Florida State completed a second-half to defeat Clemson 31-24 on Saturday and snap a seven-game losing streak against the Tigers. And Florida State struggled to find space much of the first half and had only 21 yards with less than 8 minutes left before the half. THE TAKEAWAYFlorida State: The Seminoles overcame perhaps their biggest ACC hurdle to supplant Clemson as the league heavyweight. Clemson: The Tigers needed a win here to get themselves back in the ACC and College Football Playoff chase.
