A U-turn on US climate policy could be disastrous for the planet, as it raises the risk of emulation. When America does something on the world stage, at least some countries tend to follow. Ahead of Trump’s inauguration, negotiators will ramp down their expectations in terms of what’s possible at the talks, he said. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who will host the climate talks next year in Brazil, bowed out after a head injury. The world is already 1.3 degrees warmer than it was before humans started burning fossil fuels at an industrial scale.

On Tuesday afternoon, prior to either race being called, when asked what she would do in that scenario, McBride said she would be prepared to push back on another Trump term. McBride said she didn’t want “to downplay the danger that comes with a second Trump administration” for LGBTQ people, but that hope “only makes sense in the face of hardship.”“It has always been in our community’s biggest challenges that we take our most significant steps forward,” she said after voting in Wilmington. In a second Trump administration, she said, the country could see what an advocate in Florida described to her as “a slingshot moment.”“We’re pulled backward, but the force and the pressure of being pulled backwards ultimately propels us to destinations that we’ve not yet been,” she said. Some trans people told NBC News ahead of the election that they had plans to leave their states or even the country should Trump win another term. McBride said she didn’t run to be a spokesperson for any particular community other than her constituents in Delaware.

In 2020, she was elected to represent Delaware’s 1st Senate District, which includes Claymont, Bellefonte and parts of Edgemoor and Wilmington, becoming the country’s first openly trans state senator.

Where Harris’ campaign went wrong

It was a moment that encapsulated one of the biggest challenges facing her campaign – which, in the end, proved insurmountable. CNN spoke with over a dozen senior Harris campaign aides both in the Wilmington, Delaware, campaign headquarters and on the ground in the states, as well as multiple volunteers and local elected officials, over the course of the final weeks of the race. Vice President Kamala Harris makes her way to board Air Force Two before departing Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin on September 20. Biden could have taken on a role as steward and elder statesman, rather than a guy the Harris campaign never knew quite what do with. And those tensions manifested from almost the start of this short campaign, in the internal wrangling over who Harris should pick as her running mate.

Operating EBITDA of $857 million in the quarter came in ahead of the $818 million consensus, according to FactSet. DuPont's performance on profitability metrics shined, with the better-than-expected operating EBITDA and earnings results for the quarter compounded by an increase to management's full-year outlook on both metrics. Quarterly results Another reason to look past the light water-and-protection sales: Operating margins at both of the core business units were ahead of expectations. For the electronics-and-industrial segment, management said operating EBITDA was helped, in part, by increased volume gains along with savings from productivity and restructuring actions. But equally important, in their view, was its ability to evoke the promise of the office she seeks. That was not the original intent of Harris’ major address, aides said, but they believe it serves as a timely rebuttal. A permit for the event showed as many as 20,000 people were expected to attend, with spillover onto the National Mall – her first major campaign speech outdoors in Washington. Last week, the leading super PAC supporting Harris’ candidacy raised concerns that the Harris campaign was too closely centering its closing message on calling Trump a fascist. The sweeping backdrop of the White House and the National Mall was designed for maximum effect a week before the final day of voting.
