The world is awash in solar panels after Chinese-owned firms flooded the market with cheap exports. Companies including Qcells, First Solar, and Swift Solar on Wednesday asked the Biden administration to slap tariffs on solar cells from four countries in Southeast Asia. The US solar companies allege that Chinese-owned firms operating in Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam are illegally undercutting the market. The petition by US solar companies — known as an anti-dumping and countervailing duty case — could lead to that. The probe will help determine whether solar panels were sold in the US at prices below the cost of production.

President Joe Biden nominated telecom attorney Anna Gomez to the Federal Communications Commission, his second attempt to fill an empty seat on the typically five-member panel that has left the agency in a 2-2 deadlock for his entire presidency thus far. Gomez has previously worked for the FCC in several positions over 12 years, the White House said. Jonathan Spalter, president and CEO of USTelecom, a trade group that represents broadband providers like AT&T and Verizon , congratulated Gomez in a statement. Free Press, a nonprofit advocacy group that supports net neutrality, said Gomez's nomination was long overdue. González called Gomez "eminently qualified" for the role and praised the nomination of a Latinx candidate to the position.
In April, OpenAI said it's also giving users the choice to disable their conversation record with ChatGPT, seeking to offer more visibility and control over data. The company offers a "privacy dashboard" where users can get a sense of how their search history is used, and explore options to clear that history. The dashboard essentially allows users to "view, export, and delete stored conversation history," according to a recently updated Microsoft document entitled, "The new Bing: Our approach to Responsible AI." A note on the page says Bing uses "web search history to improve your search experience by showing you suggestions as you type, providing personalized results, and more." "We also provide users with transparency and control over their search data via the Microsoft Privacy Dashboard," the representative said.

The records show he made regular payments, totaling at least $30,000 in payments this year, to another law firm, Wiley Rein, for legal consulting. Other numbers publicly listed for Troupis Law Office appear disconnected or are inoperable. Phone, email and text messages left with Johnson’s campaign were not immediately returned. On May 11, Chesebro donated $5,800 to Johnson’s campaign, the maximum amount an individual can contribute during the primary, under FEC rules. That lawsuit alleges that Troupis was a link between the Trump campaign and the fake electors.
Nabilah Islam wants the Federal Election Commission to let federal candidates use donor money for expanded salaries and health insurance. "The current system makes it prohibitive for working Americans to run for office," Islam told Insider. "Every American should have a living wage and health insurance when they run for office," Islam told Insider. In general, federal law prohibits federal candidates from using campaign cash on personal expenditures — so forget that donor-funded Rolex or dream trip to Maui. For example, it ruled in 2018 that federal candidates may use campaign funds to pay for certain child care expenses.
