Volkswagen shares dipped Wednesday after the company issued an overnight profit warning and announced it was considering the potential closure of an Audi plant in Brussels. It noted that is also considering the restructuring or potential shutdown of its Audi plant in Brussels, where it employs 3,000 people, on the back of weak demand for the Audi Q8 e-tron line — a fully electric offering from the brand, launched in 2019. Automakers have contended with waning EV demand, with European brands facing the compounded challenge of a wave of discounted, state-subsidized rival vehicles produced in China. If it presses ahead, this would mark Volkswagen's first factory shutdown in nearly four decades, since the 1988 closure of its plant in the Westmoreland site in Alabama.

☆ Amazon rolls out generative AI tool to help sellers write product listings

Amazon on Wednesday debuted an artificial intelligence tool for sellers that helps them generate copy for their product pages. The tool prompts sellers to enter a few keywords or sentences describing their product. It then spits out a range of content a seller can use to build their listing, such as product titles, bullet points and descriptions. The feature was announced this week at Amazon Accelerate, a conference held annually in Seattle for the company's third-party sellers. Amazon also recently started using AI to summarize reviews left by customers on some products.

CNN —A widespread state of emergency has been declared across Jamaica to fight violent crime, the island nation’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness said in a public address Wednesday. We have some really serious criminal threats facing us and we have to use all the powers at our disposal,” Holness said. A Mississippi State University student and offensive lineman died Wednesday, the school said in a statement. Samuel Westmoreland of Tupelo, Mississippi, was a freshman majoring in industrial technology, the school said in a statement. Head football coach Mike Leach and athletics director John Cohen said they were heartbroken. Westmoreland was a graduate of Tupelo High School, where he played football. In a statement the Tupelo School District shared Wednesday on Twitter, the high school's football coach said Westmoreland was a leader who was voted a team captain his senior year.

A seemingly dormant Mehmet Oz campaign has struggled to unify the MAGA base in Pennsylvania. "Since Dr. Oz's victory remarks on June 9th, he has been to over 75 events," Oz campaign spokesperson Brittany Yanick told Insider in a statement. The Oz campaign would not say when it has plans to launch new TV ads. The Vance campaign responded to Insider's request for comment by attacking Rep. Tim Ryan.
