While generous, it is 75% smaller than the bonus given to Olympic gold medalists from the city state. Silver Olympic medalists are given considerably larger bonuses – HK$3 million (around $386,000) – than gold Paralympic medalists from Hong Kong. The United States is comparatively less generous, awarding $37,500 to both Olympic and Paralympic gold medalists. Lithuanian Paralympic champions currently receive a bonus of €83,875 (around $94,000), which is exactly half what Olympic champions from the nation received. However, it has not been decided if this will be achieved by increasing Paralympic bonuses or by decreasing bonuses for Olympic gold medalists.

But the British monarch opted to film this year’s message at Fitzrovia Chapel in central London, which was previously a hospital chapel before it was demolished in 1924. Buckingham Palace confirmed the location on Monday afternoon after it was first reported by The Daily Telegraph. There are some Christmas traditions in England that might confuse people from the US. Christmas pudding, a popular holiday dessert in the UK, is probably unfamiliar to most Americans. Gideon Mendel/Corbis/Getty ImagesOne of the more confusing British holiday traditions (for Americans at least) is pantomime, which are over-the-top musical comedies based on famous fairy tales. Charles was joined by Prince William and Princess Kate, who has slowly returned to public duties this year following treatment for cancer. The wreaths were adorned by poppies, a symbol of remembrance also worn on lapels by many across the U.K. in the lead-up to Remembrance Day. Poppies were a common sight on the battle-scarred lands of Europe during World War I. Princess Kate was also in attendance at Saturday evening’s Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, her first major public appearance since finishing chemotherapy. President Vladimir Putin has warned Russia would be “at war” with the United States and its allies if they lift restrictions on Ukraine's use of long-range Western weapons. “We are not talking about allowing or not allowing the Ukrainian regime to strike Russia with these weapons,” Putin said Thursday in comments to propagandist Pavel Zarubin. Stefan Rousseau / WPA Pool via Getty Images"This will mean that NATO countries, the U.S. and European countries are at war with Russia," Putin said. Putin added that the Ukrainian army does not have the ability to program long-range missiles or the satellite data necessary for their targeting, relying on NATO military personnel for those tasks. It’s been pleading for that policy to change so it can strike military assets deeper inside Russia that are used to launch attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Sunak will likely point to falling inflation and a strengthening economy as proof that his plan to “restore economic stability” is working. Here’s what data shows has happened to wages, living standards, the value of the pound, house prices and waiting times for medical treatment on the NHS. “Poor income growth has been an unfortunate feature of economic life in the UK over the last 15 years. On average, households now spend more than 29% of their after-tax income on rent, up from 24% in 2010, according to Zoopla, a property company. The idea that Cohen talked to Trump about Daniels on that call “was a lie,” Blanche alleged. Moreover, my experience has been that juries don’t decide based upon one moment — they base their judgment on an overall view.”There were allegedly three parties aware of the scheme to conceal the real reason Trump paid Cohen more than $400,000 in supposed legal fees: Trump, Cohen and Allen Weisselberg, then-chief financial officer of the Trump Organization. “Weisselberg could be the linchpin to validate Cohen’s claims about Trump agreeing to reimburse him through Trump Organization, as a business expense,” wrote attorney Stacy Schneider. Trump seems to be tempted to go mano a mano and show that he is better fit to be commander-in-chief. The new requirement for GOP politicians wanting to demonstrate their loyalty to Trump seems to be visiting the Manhattan courthouse where he’s on trial.
